The best Carnitas and Buche in all of SoCal!!! Let me first address the other complaints people have made here. First, this is not a real “restaurant” no one will seat you or serve you, no one will attend to you, no one will wait on you. This location is barely a restaurant, the interior is not nice nor even fully furnished (even before Covid). Think of this place as a “to go” spot that just so happens to have tables and chairs to eat, plus a bar.
Second, yes everything is a la carte here, tortillas are extra (old ones where better then the new ones they started making), salsa and nopales are extra too, neither are really that good so skip them. PreCovid any pound was around $8 which was a deal, now as of Oct 2021 their prices jumped up to $12 per lb, which is pretty much the going rate today anyways. But these carnitas and buche is top notch, better then Dos Portillos and more established then street vendors.
Third, yes there are really long lines (1 hour +)especially Saturday and Sunday morning. La gente esta cruda and want their carnitas. The long lines are a testament to their quality and flavor of their food, they’re second to none. Everything here is cooked like it should be, not dry at all, but not too greasy either, again the buche is top notch as well.
Having been a patron for years here and will continue to do so even with the price increases, long lines, and relatively far distance from me,...
Read moreI came here cause I heard good reviews but was upset with almost everything . There was a long line outside to the parking lot almost an hour wait to be served . So I thought wow it must be that good. Once I got inside it was so hot in there they have no fans or AC ( feel terrible for employees).I would give give a better review if they didn’t charge for every little thing . They seriously charge more for salsa and Chile !! I get that they give 6 handmade tortillas as an extra charge but to charge extra for salsa !! Also they don’t give limes , cilantro, onions . Never been to a place where they don’t include that ! Very...
Read moreWe found this place by accident and not knowing what to expect we walked in. There was a long line for carnitas, so they must be amazing. No line for birria and menudo. I had birria and surprisingly it had flavor and handmade tortillas were big and good. You order your food first then you get a table. The waitress was friendly and pleasant. Live music playing and the ambiance is great, people enjoying good Mexican food and music. If you're a "fresa" please leave your attitude at the door or don't bother coming in🤣. I had a good...
