B.B.Q. Luso — Restaurant in Perth Amboy

Friendly & courteous service, I have been a customer for over 10yrs, within the last year, the change of management has egregiously hurt the quality of food they put out. Ribs are reminiscent of cold tasteless, dehydrated shoe sole, similar to the consistency of an expired bag of Jack links beef jerky,the chicken is dry & again absent of taste with the exception of a hint of carbon,even the dark meat is dry & unappetizing, the rice remains the same. The fries are always cold , soggy & cardboard like in consistency. I have given the establishment the benefit of the doubt after a few very unhappy experiences, yet after my last purchase it was unanimous that my family nor I would never eat here again. The prices were raised yet the quality of the food declined substantially. Sadly the new management are going to continue to lose clientele if they continue to allow food to leave there establishment that way, if I could get back the last $100 I spent in there I would because it was not worth nothing that's how inedible it was, this was my experience & it may differ from someone else's, they only way to find out is to try it out for yourself but take my advice get the cheapest platter for starters before dropping $50-60 on a family dinner that was enjoyed more by the house dog &...

I have previously eaten at this establishment at least 3 times, the last time I was there I felt like there was some racial tension in the air. I waited for the customer in front me to get their order and leave the building.. I walked up to the counter and patiently stood there as the owner was doing something behind the cash register.. I was the only customer in the restaurant at the time, I waited 5 or 6 minutes and I remember thinking "is he going to take my order"? I continued to wait as other customers entered the restaurant, I believe they were Caucasian or fair skinned Hispanics. The owner attended to the new customers right away.. I stood there in disbelief.. I waited another minute or two then I left, I don't really understand why any business owner would treat paying customers in this manner.. I can truthfully say that in the past I really did enjoy their food, however I will never return to BBQ Luso.. And I will not recommend...

I came here for the first time with my ex about 5 years ago. Although the relationship didn't last memories of this food and sitting by the water are still vivid lol. I was telling someone about the dish I like to get here which is the beef ribs they serve with rice and fries. I think they use a smoker to cook these ribs but they are emmaculent to where you want to scrape the meat off with your teeth. I've never really had ribs that I didn't have to smother in sauce either due to the traditional American way of making them or just due to the meat needing it. It's very humble ambience but it's clean and the staff are very nice. It's also near the water front so you can sit in your car and veg out if that makes you happy.
