Taco John's — Restaurant in Peru

Food is usually pretty good when they actually get you the right order, but for the last few months this place has practically stolen money from me and not gave a single care in the world. First time I ended up paying for the order I asked for and the one with completely different items from what I asked for cause the staff was too lazy to correct their arrogance. I figured this place has always served well, so I’ll pay up and let it slide that time. As of today, I ordered two #9’s, two sweet teas, two Mexican donut bites, and their new potato burrito thing (can’t remember what the name was). Got everything right except didn’t give me the new potato burrito and when I called back, but they just asked for my name and number so the manager could call back. I know how the inside of those places work, that tactic is just to ignore the problem even further. They claim their “system is having problems and they can’t see the whole order sometimes”. Bull. If it was on my receipt and repeated to me at the window, it should have been in the bag. In fact, I know it’s against most fast food’s rules to not check bags before giving it to the customer, so if the owner ends up reading this, here’s your proof. They clearly are not checking the bags. That place needs new employees or something cause 6 months ago this issue never happened and it was always handled properly if it rarely ever did. These new girls are just complete morons. Extremely disappointing that my favorite fast food has become an establishment of arrogance, ignorance, and the most undesirable...

Original review is from a visit in May of 2022. We gave it 2 stars... We no longer live near Taco John's, so we've been looking forward to it for a year, since our last visit. However, what we got was luke warm-ish tacos and potato oles. At least the cheese sauce was warm and the soda was good. On the plus side, the tacos were large, the lobby was clean, and they seemed to have plenty of staff on hand. Too bad the food wasn't as good. After flying 2000 miles (thank god it wasn't just for this) and driving over an hour to satisfy our TJ's itch, we were sadly disappointed. When we were there a year ago, it was the bomb. Come on, TJ's, you can do better.

Updated review is from a visit in January of 2023. We gave it 5 stars... We had an opportunity to revisit Taco John's in January of 2023 and it was MUCH BETTER! Our food was hot and fresh this time. The tacos and potato oles really hit the spot. The tables were clean, the staff was friendly, and service was fast. We're already looking forward to our next visit...

I tried this place when it first opened and the lines were out to the main road, S Broadway. I was not impressed, but I thought I'd give them another chance, since they were obviously overwhelmed.

I waited until the lines due to their "newness" were exhausted. I arrived at the start of dinner service - 5:00 pm virtually on the dot. No line at all and just one at the window. Great service at the speaker, easy order placement. That's where to good service ended.

My order too for-ev-er. Perhaps 7 minutes, which for all regular tacos at a taco place at the start of the dinner hours is a very, very long wait. No special orders, not even any beverages. Sigh.

When I finally got the home, they were cold. Thoroughly greasy. Outright yuck. Gave both of us indigestion - that red grease stayed with us for hours, and not in a pleasant way. At least, we got the $.99 specials for Taco Tuesday, so they weren't expensive as other reviewers have mentioned. However, bad food is still bad food, and that makes it...
