Grand Central is nothing short of a true Petaluma gem. There are 4 coffee shops within a 5-10 minute walk of my house. I’ve frequented them all and would choose Grand Central every single time. First of all, the coffee is the best I have ever had. A bold statement I know, but it’s true. As soon as you step foot into the place, you’ll see they know what they’re doing when it comes to coffee. I just purchased my 3rd bag of their Ecuador Medium Roast. I’m also enjoying their Iced Horchata Latte (with Almondmilk) and a GF Almond Tart that was baked locally. Me and my family have tried most of their empanadas which were all great, as are their other pastry options. I eat gluten and dairy free and there are honestly plenty of options. Other than the amazing coffee, the atmosphere is why I choose to return time and time again. It’s friendly, lively and most importantly (to me) kid friendly. There’s a space for kids to run and play equipped with sand, trikes, bikes, push cars and even a little play house. It means a lot that my toddler can come and enjoy this space, have a cup of milk and play with some toys. The owner is also super friendly and has been here every single time I’ve visited, which is pretty rare. He’s always helping his employees and making sure his customers are having a great experience. No one asked me to write this review. As a small business owner myself, I think it’s important to shout out and support local gems like this so they can continue to be a part of Petaluma.

This is a very unique place. Both the coffee and chocolate are made from very good quality ingredients. Personally I was not a fan of the Afogatto. It's usually made with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, topped with an espresso shot. Instead of an ice cream scoop, they use a vanilla ice cream bar. It's just not the same experience as you really couldn't eat/drink them together. If you like very strong coffee and espresso drinks, maybe give it a try if you are looking for something very different than chain store options. If you are looking for a sweet Starbucks type drink, don't come here. Having said that, the service is very friendly and professional. They clearly care about both the quality of their product and the comfort of their customers. Don't miss the incredible view of the river in downtown outback from the Adirondack chairs and hammocks.

This place is dreamy. They host a ton of cool events for kids, wellness, learning, music, etc. and I find them to align well with what I’d be interested in. The back portion is lovely, they have hammocks, large arm chairs, picnic tables and regular chairs so you can sit by the river and enjoy the view. The coffee is some of the best in town, I get black coffee. The food here is so darn good. I’m vegan and there are great options. They have fresh bakery items which I find to be really unique and delicious. They also make fresh empanadas with several options and the flavor is great, the chimichurri sauce is also very yummy. Finally, I love to shop here. They have such cool selections from clothing to instruments, delectable chocolate and creams and salves. I’d highly recommend it:)

I could not resist coming here after seeing their creative menu! And it was WORTH it. I came here with my boyfriend and we each got two drinks because we were so curious and excited, lol: the Aztec, the Horchata Latte, the Bourbon Coconut Latte and a regular mocha. They were all sooo good - the Horchata Latte being the star of the day.

We also each got an empanada: beef and vegetarian, also fantastic. Word of warning though - they are far smaller than I expected. I thought we were going to get something the size of a hand pie but they're about half that big. I'm personally okay with that because they were extremely tasty and I wasn't looking to eat much. $7 for the size would probably be a bit pricey to some people, but I think for something local, and so good, it's fair. Plus the coffee is surprisingly inexpensive for an artisan coffee house so it balances out.

You can sit by the river in either a lounge chair, at a picnic bench, or a table with chairs, with the offer of sun cover if you want it. The lovely view of the river with a bit of bird watching is a wonderful way to enjoy a meal!

The only thing I really didn't like was that they use those awful paper straws for their drinks in the interest of being environmentally conscious. I appreciate the sentiment, but there are sturdier compostable straws that exist! I don't know why these terrible straws are still around, plaguing cafes everywhere. Everyone hates them. That's hardly something that would keep me from going back though. ☺️ I'll...

A Hidden Gem in Petaluma!

I can't say enough good things about Grand Central Petaluma! This cozy little spot is the perfect blend of coffee shop, empanada haven, and chocolate paradise. From the moment you walk in, the warm and inviting atmosphere pulls you in, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods sets the tone for a fantastic experience.

Their empanadas are absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside and packed with flavorful fillings. Whether you're in the mood for something savory or sweet, there's an option for everyone. And don't even get me started on their chocolate offerings—decadent, rich, and perfect for a sweet treat.

The staff here, especially one of the owners Natalie, are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Whether you're grabbing a quick coffee to-go or sitting down to enjoy a meal, you feel right at home. I’ve become a regular and can’t recommend this place enough for anyone visiting Petaluma or even locals looking for a new favorite spot.

Definitely a 5-star...
