Disappointing: It was our anniversay and we chose to dine at Sugo based upon past visits.

We have enjoyed our past visits, but I admit it has been awhile since we were in. My husband and I both ordered the burger med well. Mine was cooked great, but his too pink. They offered to take it back, but we switched boards and made do. The greens served with the burger tasted like they were tossed lightly in olive oil, with no acidity and the burger was too salty. The menu said the burger was served on a rosemary chaibatta. Couldn't taste the rosemary, and the bread was nondescript. The foccicia bread we ordered was flavorless and reminded me of fluffy white bread; just OK with the olive oil, balsamic blend.

Our son had the Fettuccine Alfredo and subbed in the grilled chicken. Sauce was a bland white sauce, noodles undercooked and chicken unseasoned. Even the appearance looked off. Oddly, there were also some hard pieces in the sauce as well. (See coffee mug plate). We did tell the waiter about the dish and he did offer something else but our son declined since we had finished eating. The waiter brought the check without even offering us dessert. We paid, took the chicken from the Alfredo dish along with the leftover burger for our dog. Definitely not the same quality as on our previous visits and I don't plan on returning...

First time to Petaluma, first time to Sugo Trattoria. Did I make the BEST decision ever; YES! First off, adorable little spot inside. Just cozy enough, but they have the table spaced appropriately to not be on top of one another. Great, great, great service. Tracy was our server, but this entire STAFF was attentive and looked like they really help the restaurant run smoothly. Loved the kitchen had an opening, but not so open that it is too loud. Delicious food. Delicious. We had appetizer, salad, entree and dessert and not a thing was out of place. Right amount of seasoning on everything. Nothing out of place. The service was impeccable, not only from our great server Tracy, but the way the entire team seemed to work together to keep the place running and orderly. Very friendly service, but no one was hovering around. A perfect dinner out. I would come back again to try different entrees, but would eat the same fig salad again! I am not a huge Tiramusu fan, but this was exceptional. Perfect texture, perfect taste. I should have brought a second serving home...

Simply Excellent!

Starting with their tomato basil soup. It tasted so fresh, authentic and different from anything I've had in other establishments.

The prawn and scallop fettuccine was exquisite! Finished my meal and shamelessly scrapped as much of the sauce of that plate as possible.

The creamy pesto verdura w/ added grilled chicken was well rounded, light and delicious.

Finished off with a scoop of their vanilla gelato and again, very authentic, creamy and unlike other places.

Their tomato soup was so good that we took two bowls to go as we were only visiting for a wedding.

It's worth mentioning that we arrived 30 min before closing and took our time savoring each bite, and at no point did we feel rushed nor where the staff rude.

Also, the symmetry of their table settings and the themed details of the restaurant are visually pleasing.

10/10 will return...

I was so excited to try this place and it did not disappoint!! My friends and I had a full on feast and it was delicious! I ordered the pistachio-crusted salmon and it was cooked perfectly. The red sauce on top had a lovely sweetness that paired so well with the fish, mashed potatoes, and green beans. My friend had the eggplant pasta special which was tasty as well. We all shared the ravioli special (in the middle of the picture) which was corn and red pepper filling with a red pepper cream sauce. Omg, so good. Everything was just amazing. We sat outside and it was a lovely day! The servers were also very attentive — one even asked if we’d like the umbrella shifted once it started to get more sunny. We felt very well taken care of. We didn’t get dessert and I’ll have to come back to try it!

Normally I start my reviews with either the overall feeling the establishment gave me or the food, however James or sever was fantastic and wonderful. He was very professional and even though it was close to closing time, he never made us feel rushed. Now for the food. The food was on a different level. Very well prepared and seasoned to perfection. The garlic cheese bread was my favorite appetizer. My main dish was the salmon with creamy Alfredo. I wish it was the cut of fish on top of the bed of fettuccine vs mixed in the dish, however it was ok. The finally was the lavender desert. I've never had a desert like it before. It was executed very well. Two thumbs up to Sugo Trattoria.
