Old Chicago Pizza located in the heart of historic downtown Petaluma is a family-friendly pizza shop. Famous for their different choices of crust and deep dish pizzas, this building is located on the second story of Lanmart Building. They also have a second location in Petaluma which is their take out and delivery service. This is in the Wilco Shopping Center. I compliment how fast they answer their phone there.
As for the sit down and dine in restaurant, they have old fashioned brick and peach colored walls. They even have chandeliers! I liked their decor for sure.
Ever since Covid the restaurant is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays other than their delivery service.
The afternoon I had come in my guest and I were seated right next to the window. How lucky we were to be able to watch the nice view of people walking and cars going by! The waitress we had received was very nice. She had an upbeat personality and had taken care of us very well. I hope all your employees are like this.
They first start you off with sourdough bread and butter on the side. My guest and I ordered the cheesy garlic bread as the appetizer. Then we picked our own four selection of toppings which was mushrooms, olives, pepperoni, and sausage on a deep dish pizza. I love how filling even one slice can be! My guest and I only had one slice each and saved the rest for the next couple of days.
Although they are well known for their delicious deep dish crust pizza, they do have options of thin crust, double crust, and even gluten free crust that you can choose from! There seems to be vegetarian options as well as they do have garlic bread and salads and of course pizza with vegetable toppings. They also have dessert, one that’s a gluten free option. They have alcoholic beverages from options of beer to red and white wine. They do have a bar there if you’re just feeling like drinks and not the whole dine in experience.
The parking lot that’s right next to the Lanmart Building used to be the Cosmopolitan Hotel in the 1800s. The parking lot itself was apart of a scene of the American movie, “American Graffiti.” This is where you can find one of the parking lots to settle in while you have your meal. There’s a second parking lot right next to this one. They are both 2 hour maximum time parking spots. Although the restaurant is on the second floor and you have to get up there through stairs there is an elevator for the wheelchair accessibility folks.
To the beautiful people of Sonoma county and visitors abroad, I recommend trying this place out! With the historic building and the friendly employees you have found yourself a good...
Read moreThe pizza here is actually some of the best I've ever had. Absolutely delicious and everything was fresh and tasty. The reason for the two star review was because for the first time in my life I was treated like a second class citizen. I dined here yesterday afternoon 9/2/17 with my husband and our 4 children and got a Hispanic waitress with a very thick accent and shorter hair pulled back in a ponytail. While she was polite, I did notice she was treating us differently than other patrons. This weekend the Bay Area has had some of the hottest temperatures ever recorded so we all ordered water. She brought it out no problem, but I noticed at other tables she had put lemon in the water while we had none. She also went to other tables unprompted to refill there water while we were not offered the same courtesy. My husband asked her where the bathroom was and she told him, she failed to tell him you need a key to get into the bathroom, another waitress came by when she saw my husband try to open the door and gave him her key. The final straw was when we finished our meal, another couple came in with two children and she offered them coloring books and crayons, while our children were not offered the same. Needless to say we did not give her a tip.
I just want to add we had done nothing wrong to get subpar service. We are not loud people who partake in boisterous conversation, our children are well behaved in public places, my husband works in law enforcement and he makes sure of this. The only thing different about us is we are a black family while everyone else dining there was white. If you are African American and thinking of dining there I would strongly discourage this and recommend you order your...
Read moreI been coming here since 1980 & love this pizza and place. But recently the service has been so bad, but last experience was not a good one. I ordered a pizza for delivery and the worker that answered said it would be 35 minutes. I called back an hour later asking if there was a problem with the order. I hadn’t heard back and had not received the pizza. The severer then told me that location did not deliver. I asked why did they did say that when I placed the order. The server had my phone number and address, the server then acknowledge the mistake on their part and suggested I call the delivery location. We then called the delivery location and spoke with the manager. The manager said they call the other location and maybe have the pizza delivered from their driver, there were none available and said the pizza is still there but would have to pick it up. I called back to pick up the pizza, only to have the worker lie and say I was rude and accused me of cussing and called the server a POS. That “was a lie”. Then I explained that she should ashamed of herself for lying and degrading the business. I did not want the pizza after that, again the sever should should be ashamed of how she treated me and lying about the situation and degrading the business, servers should not be there with that kind of attitude lying to the customers. I will probably never eat there again, which is a shame because I have been going since 1980. I understand people can have a bad day but very disappointed. The service was so horrible it’s not worth...
