Angela’s Organic ice-cream shop is well known to Sonoma County. They have four locations starting with the one in downtown Petaluma, one on the east side of Petaluma, continuing with the shop in Forestville, and finally the one in Healdsburg who is neighbors with a burger shop.
Some of the great and unique qualities this ice cream shop has is how it’s a farm to cone kind of story. They make their ice cream straight from the farm which keeps it fresh and organic. Another quality is the fact that the owners are of a Hispanic background, women, and immigrants. This really supports the diversity in the Sonoma County community.
The specific ice cream shop I went too was the one located in downtown Petaluma, Petaluma Boulevard. I enjoy the location because whether you decide to dine in and enjoy your ice cream or walk around with it, you’re in the middle of all the social life. There’s people walking, enjoying the stores and the views, having some wine and good food.
As soon as I walked in I noticed how the interior was a typical modern decor. Not my favorite, but the logo of the angels is endearing. There was a long line already so I knew it must be popular for a reason. There were so many unique flavors to choose from.
My guest and I both got a split scoop which is two flavors in a single scoop of ice cream. I got the gluten free apple pie and the cookies and cream. My guest ordered the peanut butter crunch and caramel crack. I really enjoyed my flavors. Even though one of them was gluten free it was super tasty. The cookies and cream had perfect amount of thick cookie to go with the creamy ice cream. Unfortunately my guest didn’t like his flavors. The peanut butter crunch was just Reese’s cups in chocolate ice-cream. It lacked the peanut buttery taste to it and the Reese’s cups were hard to chew.
The employees there were all very sweet, nice, and youthful! They definitely matched the environment of the ice-cream shop. Something to consider as well is the prices, they were a bit on the expensive side. Also, dining in was definitely a mistake because it’s not the biggest space and there were tons of families and kids since it was a Saturday. I enjoy seeing the business thrive with a lot of customers, but it does get a bit intense and unenjoyable when there’s kids running around and everyone being close in proximity. If you don’t mind that by all means dining in is the choice for you! Unfortunately for me it wasn’t.
This ice cream shop does have plenty of vegan flavors and gluten free flavors so they’re allergy and vegan/vegetarian friendly. The doors have wheel chair accessibility, but I would be conscious on the busier days since it get a bit tighter.
There is side street parking or if you don’t mind walking, there is parking lots on both ends of downtown Petaluma.
Overall to the beautiful people of Sonoma County and visitors abroad I would try this place at least once. I think I would go there again, but definitely take it to go with me and...

Some people end a romantic dinner with a stroll. Others? With fireworks. We ended ours with dairy ecstasy.
Tucked into what looks like a Norman Rockwell painting of a soda shop blessed by the gods of cream and churn, Angela’s Organic Ice Cream doesn’t just scoop. No, no, friend. They perform. They compose. They whisk your very soul into a symphony of local cream, honest eggs, and hand-swirled, heart-stirring magic.
Picture this: black-and-white checkered floors straight out of a 1950s diner fantasy. Soft pendant lighting like butter on a biscuit. And behind that glowing glass? A lineup of treats so angelic you half-expect them to sing Gregorian chants as you approach.
My wife — Queen of the Quinoa, Duchess of Side Dishes, and occasional dessert doubter — was converted in one elegant spoonful. She ordered the Nutty Natalie, which I will now refer to as The Hazelnut Love Bomb. Toasted hazelnuts? Present. Homemade hazelnut-chocolate syrup? Swirling like Michelangelo painted it. Mascarpone? As silky as Sinatra’s voice in a candlelit lounge. If this cup were any more Italian, it would’ve serenaded her with a mandolin.
Me? I went for the Chocolate Raspberry, which I will modestly rename The Smooth Operator. Creamy milk chocolate and bright raspberry walked hand-in-hand across my tongue like Fred and Ginger. Sweet, tart, velvety, electric. If a chocolate truffle and a summer raspberry had a well-adjusted child, this would be it.
We rolled in late, bellies full of dinner and dreams. No line, no wait — just the gentle hum of a staff that cares. Sold out of a few things (a sign of quality!), but they made up for it with cheerful samples and honest recommendations. You can tell the folks here believe in the product. And they should. Because this isn’t frozen dessert. This is frozen devotion.
Angela’s doesn’t rely on gimmicks. There’s no gold leaf. No smoke show. Just cream, eggs, integrity, and a commitment to flavor that should frankly earn them a Nobel Prize in dairy diplomacy.
If you find yourself anywhere within a 50-mile radius of this gem and do not stop in… I question your life choices. This is the kind of place where ice cream isn’t just eaten. It’s remembered.
5 scoops out of 5. One for taste, one for texture, one for ambiance, one for staff, and one because this is what dessert was always...
Read moreA wonderful ice cream store with a variety of delicious flavors and really friendly and kind staff, but I do have a gripe...
When I walked in, it was a little busy, so there wasn't an employee immediately available to assist me (which is totally understandable, not my gripe), but because of this lack of assistance I was very confused as to the menu's placement.
When you first walk in you see the register and immediately behind it there's a LARGE chalkboard with a menu on it, however, as I found out during my ordering process, I was informed that the "menu" I saw was in fact, NOT the menu, and the actual menu was on the wall to the right? Not even the wall closest to the register!
After this mix up, the rest of the process went very smoothly (as I said, the staff was wonderful and very competent), but I cannot understand WHY the REAL menu is in such an odd and un-intuitive place when there's a perfectly good MASSIVE chalkboard DIRECTLY BEHIND the register, being taken up by a "menu" that is no longer accurate.
I do look forward to my next visit though as, again, the ice cream is truly delicious. And once again, the staff was VERY kind and INCREDIBLY helpful, it just seems like such a wild place to put the menu.
Need to try the baked goods next time. That brownie looked...
