11/19/2023 @ 1:00PM; sister and I visited Sushi Luma Japanese restaurant in Petaluma for first time since we ran out places to eat Japanese foods in Sonoma County. Surprisingly bento box lunch menus dishes we ordered were good. I had chicken katsu bento box which comes with 2-pieces of chicken katsu, katsu sauce, salad, rice and miso soup all were prepared deliciously. Sister ordered chicken teriyaki and tempura combination with similar and everything were good. Since everything were decent so far so I decided "futomaki" which are assorted vegetable pickles roll to go and it was below par as tastes and inegredients used in futomaki roll so I could not rate 5-Stars due to futomaki roll.
I would rate today's visit; Food Quality ----- 5-Stars (for Bento-box foods) & Futomaki roll 1-Star. Food Taste ------- 5-Stars (for Bento-box foods) & Futomaki roll 1-Star. Service-------------- 5-Stars Atmosphere ----- 5-Stars Parking -------------5-Stars (plenty of parking up front
12/28/2023 @ 12:10PM, Sister and I visited for second time since first visit were decent in quality and taste of food.
Although second visit was disappointed. Ordered chicken katsu and tempura combination bento box for me and sis had Korean bbq beef and tempura combination. I would like to clarify that so called "tempura" served in Sushi-luma is "NOT" a tempura, tempura does not use bread crumbs to fry it's a fried vegetables and shrimp. My order chicken katsu were burned black like hard black chicken jerky. Think it's a left over chicken katsu from day before and warmed up in microwave. I could list more things but will stop here.
Sushi-luma claims they are Japanese restaurant but owners and employees are not and giving bad names for Japanese.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS EATERY IF LOOKING FOR AUTHENTIC JAPANESE MENUS DISHES, LIMITED MENUS EXCEPT...
Read more2nd----- I envy the people living here. Having such an excellent restaurant nearby! Sushiluma is truly an excellent restaurant. Other restaurants use fake crab and are expensive. However, this place uses real crab, and there is no price difference compared to other restaurants. It's really difficult to find a high-quality restaurant at this price. I believe this place will become the best Japanese restaurant in Petaluma in the future. 1st------ This place is truly fantastic. It's a new Japanese restaurant that opened three months ago. The service is outstanding, and all the dishes are filled with fresh and high-quality ingredients. Unlike most Japanese restaurants that use imitation crab, this place uses real crab. Despite using real crab, the prices are not expensive. The taste is also richer. I've lived in San Francisco, San Jose, and LA and I love Japanese cuisine, so I've been to many places. However, I don't think there is a place as delicious, generous in portion, and reasonably priced as this one. I will definitely visit again. This place proudly claims to be the best Japanese restaurant in the area, and I...
Read moreThis place ruined sushi for me. I am here visiting and figured I'd get some sushi from down the street. Despite bringing my order back to my hotel room, the food was still so fresh. I ordered an appetizer and two special rolls and was absolutely floored by how delicious everything was. Almost literally. Good thing I was sitting down because I nearly fainted. Everything I ordered was creative and unique in their own ways. But as soon as I took my first bite, I was struck by a devastating realization. All of the sushi I have had pales in comparison to what I was experiencing and I will be returning to my home, to a town devoid of good sushi. I almost wish I chose not to go to this place. I feel like a moth that got too close to the light because I have walked into a curse that I will live with for the rest of my life. I will forever be yearning for their sushi from this day forward. I live much to far to come here anytime soon. I am just telling the honest truth here. Do with it what you will. I ate it all way to fast to take any pictures...
