Visited for the first time on Tuesday, and the restaurant is nice looking i side, can’t tell from the outside, but was quite empty, with only 3 men in one corner and a couple at another table, so it wasn't very busy. Initially, no one greeted us, no one was around, which left us unsure whether to sit on our own or wait to be seated, so we just stood there. Our first impression was not good.
When we finally sat down, the only waiter didn’t really say anything, only saying he would come back when we looked at him. As for the food, it was a mixed experience. Some dishes were too spicy, but no flavor, (samosas and veggie lunchbox), while the other one was completely bland, (noodles). The veggie lunchbox was barely warm; it would have been better if it had been served hot. The samosas arrived almost immediately after we ordered, but they were not even room temperature—just something that had been sitting out. For $6 for two samosas, I expected them to be hot, fresh, and served with the green sauce, not ketchup.
I was disappointed that one dish (the street-style chicken noodles). Although the dish was hotter than all the other meals, the chicken seemed old/stale, very oily and there was barely any of it.
I also think it’s bad for one person to eat while the other waits for their meal. This happened because one meal was being prepared fresh, while the other served from the buffet sitting there. We prefer all meals at the same time if possible. I’m debating whether to give the restaurant another chance, but most importantly, the customer service was lacking. We were only asked what we wanted and had our food brought to the table. With only two other tables occupied, it was disappointing that no one checked on us or ensured we needed anything else after the food was brought to us. Additionally, several tables were left dirty with dishes, which should have been cleaned up during our visit, since it wasn’t busy and they had time.
Another concern was regarding the Halal status of the food. We were told that everything is Halal, but there were no visible certificates or signage to confirm this, which raises doubts. We’ve been to restaurants claiming to be Halal only to find out they weren’t, so it’s important for Halal certification to be clearly displayed for customers. I knew of a restaurant that closed and was sued for misleading people think it was Halal, when the restaurant lied about that information.
Cleanliness is very important.
The mango lassi was brought right after we ordered, but it was prepackaged, it was nice packaging, but I’m unsure where it was sourced from, in house or made elsewhere.
I encourage the staff to be more attentive and prioritize customer service. It's important for them to avoid distractions, such as being on their phones or away from the entrance, so they can notice and acknowledge customers as they enter.
Greeting customers and making them feel welcome is essential, as first impressions are everything. Additionally, it’s important to serve hot, fresh food rather than items that have been sitting in the buffet.
The desert experience was just ok, nothing special; one half was moist while the other half was extremely dry.
When you go to a restaurant, you would expect good service and fresh food, not leftovers or old food.
I keep thinking we went on a day that maybe they were having a bad day, but it's no excuse for the lack of customer service and fresh food.
Our main concerns are the Halal certification, the quality of the food, and the...
Read moreFood was tasty. Not high end, but good. However, I ordered online the "chicken tikka" because my wife doesn't like masala. This option has no description, but the picture showed an entire chicken and it was $15.99 (a price point that indicates this is supposed to be a whole chicken). When I got home, all they provided was a leg and a wing (my wife only likes breast meat). I called them. A lady answered with a simple "hello?". I had to ask her if this was Indian cravings. I then explained the issue. She said "ok, I'll let them know." I asked if I should come back, to which she said yes. I get there in about 5m and explain I was just on the phone with her. She's asks me "ok, so what was the problem?" I very bluntly stated "the chicken tikka was $17, the online menu indicated it was a whole chicken, I only got a leg and a wing." She went and spoke to someone in the kitchen about it before returning to inform me that a single order of chicken tikka is just one piece. I pulled up the menu on my phone too show her and a man who's now come out to back her up. They still insisted that $17 only gets me one piece (no sides of any sort, and inferring that I should be grateful to have gotten 2 pieces). Folks, a whole cooked chicken is $6 at HEB, $10 at many restaurants. $17 for a leg is ridiculous. Since they were unwilling to provide a whole chicken, I asked for a refund for the chicken due to false advertising. To their credit, they processed one without fuss. But I was very disheartened by the insistence that $17 only gets me one piece of a chicken. That's astronomical markup. And rather than making good on the advertised offer by providing a whole chicken, they processed a refund when I called them out on false advertising which seems to acknowledge that it was indeed false advertising. There's no way a chicken would cost them $17. The business lost more in providing a refund than if they had just provided a whole chicken. My wife was really hoping for chicken tikka (not masala) breast meat and this establishment did...
Read moreI stopped in the other day as I didn't know this place was here and it was at the same location as an appointment I had. So, I was a potential new customer. They had just opened and nobody else was there. I placed a carryout order with the guy at the counter was going to pay then he walked off as someone else came in when he came back, he charged me for someone else's order. I questioned the amount, and it was refunded back to my card, which is good. After a short wait, he gave me the food and I told him I wanted a receipt showing my refund, which he gave me. When I got home, I discovered he gave me the order that he first erroneously charged me for! I called just to let him know he gave me the wrong order in case someone else was waiting for it. He wanted me to come back with the food and take my order. I told him I was not going to spend another hour of my night going back there. He then blamed ME for taking the wrong food because he said I should have checked the receipt. Sorry, but he messed up from the very beginning, this was not my fault. I love Indian food, so they lost a new customer. The food was OK, but it was nothing I would have ordered. Very disappointing, as it seems difficult to get good Indian food...
