China Garden — Restaurant in Phenix City

We've been searching all around Phenix City for some good Chinese food, but we've been very unlucky in our search. We tried China Garden recently, and it was a very disappointing experience. The place itself feels a little sketchy because there are no windows and when you walk in the front door, you are in a dimly lit hallway - you've got to go down and around the corner before you actually turn into the restaurant. We just did a take out order, so there's not much to say about the service - the food was ready quickly and waiting for us when we arrived, the gentleman running the register was friendly in assisting me with my transaction. We hoped that this would be the good Chinese food we had been looking for, but when we sat down to eat at home, we discovered it definitely was not good food. It was bland, tasted like it was freezer burnt or had been reheated poorly. Dry when it shouldn't have been, runny sauces, messy presentation. It was so bad we didn't even eat the leftovers - and if you love Chinese food like I do, you know that leftovers - when it's good Chinese food - leftovers are so enjoyable! But we didn't enjoy any of it when eating and both agreed that this was close to the worst of Chinese restaurants we've tried in the area,...

Dinner at China Garden was awesome the atmosphere so relaxing the music was just right and the young lady who was the server she was the best he helped me out gave me information on how to order and recommended some things and I did try the house chicken it was delicious I truly recommend people to visit China Garden it's a little hidden treasure I love Hidden Treasures and I love this place please check it out on your next Hunger for Chinese one other thing being from California I like egg foo young and it is so hard to find at least two cities Georgia and Alabama but China Garden has egg fool Young!!! I did not order it last night but I will very soon... Returning back to this beautiful cozy quiet peaceful relaxing and enjoyable restaurant the food is delicious I cannot seem to deviate from the house chicken so I'm back to have it once again by myself Healthcare Zen mode enjoying the peacefulness if you want a little cozy quiet comfortable meal you must come here I absolutely love this...

We ordered to go. Service was fast. Food was below par. We ordered 3 different types of wings: me: honey braised, my bf: honey lemon pepper, and my son: buffalo hot. All looked the same, battered and fried. We're used to our wings having sauce on them. There was no braised nor honey flavoring to my wings. We saw no lemon pepper nor honey on the honey lemon pepper wings. At least the hot buffalo wings did smell spicy. My son said they were ok. I ordered fried rice with my wings. Before leaving, we inquired as to why the rice looked plain. The owner stated that the residents in Alabama complained about soy sauce making the rice brown so he had to change it unlike his restaurant in Atlanta where he said the residents know soy sauce added to rice doesn't mean that he's using brown rice.
