Firehouse Subs Phenix City — Restaurant in Phenix City

I very seldom give reviews because I generally just roll with the flow most of the time, but after paying $16.00 for a combo meal along with a lousy environment, I thought that I would share the experience. Since this Firehouse is newer, I thought I would drop in because where I used to live, Firehouse was my place to go grab dinner after work. First, The meet and greet from the cashier was fine. She told they were out of brisket which was my first choice, so I found something else to order. After I ordered and went in the restroom to wash my hands, the bathroom was a mess and smelled terrible, a very spoiled - unsanitary odor. It had been a while since it had a deep cleaning. After that experience, I went to find a seat in the dining room. Most of the tables were dirty with crumbs and you could tell the floor had not been swept in a while and really needed a good mopping to clean the floors and not just wet the floors. It took about 15 minutes to get my sandwich, and watching the 6 people working behind the counter, I could tell that most were not in any hurry to serve customers. It seemed like this was their first job and they really did not know what they were doing. Even though the sandwich was good, after the bathroom incident and having to clean my table before I could eat, and the nasty dining room floor, the experience was not very good. We were going to stop here during our road trip and saw this location was on the way. We saw that we would arrive at 8:55 pm CT just before they closed at 9. I googled to confirmed this location was in the central time zone as we had been driving in and out of the central time zone and I wanted to ensure we’d arrive in time. I knew that since we’d get there so close to closing that I should call in the order.

I called at 8:30 PM to place my order to be told they are closed. I mentioned “it says you close at 9:00 PM.” The employee on the other line told me they have to abide by EST time or they will receive a fine.

I’m sure this location is fine but it’s worth making people aware that they don’t follow the times of the time zone they’re actually located in.

**EDIT - I googled and found that Phenix City runs on EST due to the strong economic ties to Columbus, GA. So, hopefully my learning opportunity will save...

I went today after work pulled into the drive thru to order, waited 4 to 5 minutes. Nobody said anything so I checked to make sure they did t close early since it was Sunday. Online said 9, so I said “hello” thinking maybe they were a little busy and things happen. After no answer I drove to the window. 2 male workers opened the window and looked at me. I told them I wanted to order and had been sitting at the drive thru speaker but nobody answered. The white guy glasses and curly looking hair says “oh. Well you can drive back around to the window and I’ll take your order.” 😑 I said you want me to drive back around just to get my order taking? He nonchalantly said “yes.” I don’t know what kind of customer services you all have but that was not great customer service. That was laziness.
