Hog Rock Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Phenix City

My wife and had business in Phenix AL today, Tuesday, 26 September. Upon the completion business it was 12:30 pm. We Knew we wanted BBQ. Hog Rock was the closest establishment that was open. Let me open with positive observations; the buttermilk pie was absolutely wonderful, it took me back to childhood days of the 1960’s: and now the negative; we had the bbq sandwich with fries and a drink, the bbq sandwich looked good however, that was all. We asked for chopped meat, but it looked a combination of chopped and pulled. The meat was very tender but very bland tasting and it appears that is was cooked in crock pot. I don’t think there was any bbq sauce on it as I nor my wife could taste it. I looked around for the condiments box, but found only ketchup, they have plenty of that. My wife had sweet tea and she threw it away as it had a bittersweet aftertaste.The young lady who took our order wasn’t friendly at all. Never smiled, and no greeting when we entered nor when we left. I went to the bathroom, it was very clean and stocked properly, however when I opened the door several roaches scurried behind the baseboard. I would NOT Recommend this establishment to anyone. I passed thru Phenix City on my way to PCB and on my way back home I decided to stop in and try some food. I'm glad I did. I'm thinking if I ever act on my food tour - think Triple D & Guy Fieri - then I'm going to sit and try a few things. You know what surprised me? The sauce! I was expecting some kind of thick, smoky, garnet-red BBQ sauce, but what I got was a yellow, spicy & smoky sauce - think mustard with less tang. It's good! They had the pickles and diced onions on it, and it made me think of a chili dog. I had to look at it again just to be sure. LOL. Y'all! Don't pass by Hog Rock BBQ. Stop by, walk in, order, and sit and eat. Oh! And if you like sweet tea, then that's the only drink for this food besides water of course.

I'm way down here in Florida and I heard about this place. My friend went there to purchase something to eat (The chicken salad) . And he told the server that he did not want tomatoes, However the salad was served to him with the Tomato on the plate🤔.Then he ask the server to remove the tomatoes ,And they did just that took it off the plate 🤔 and gave it back to him with the Tomato seeds Still on the plate 🤔. Now no one made him go there, He chose to go There and spend his Hard Earned Money 🤑 And received Such awful service!!! However I heard the food was 4⭐ but with service like this who wants to even entertain the endearment of being treated like this !!!!
