Big shout out to Bonk's Bar in Port Richmond! Definitely a place I'll be going back to quite a bit. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken sandwich and the full/large fries, and I was beyond impressed. I consider myself a French Fry connisseur (my grandmother's nickname for me was Mr. French Fry when I was a kid), and I believe Bonk's to have the perfect shoestring fry. Crinkle is my preferred style of fry, but I'd put Bonk's fry up there with the best crinkle in the city, which is saying a lot from me. I get my fries well-done with no salt, and they cooked it to perfection. The waitress described them as similar to McDonald's, and she wasn't lying! And the large fry is indeed a huge bowl of fries! I was in heaven lol. The Chicken Sandwich was very good, too, and they give you a nice portion. It is cutlets of chicken and it comes with tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, and some type of white sauce. It also comes with bacon, but I asked for it to not have bacon. My wife had the Chicken Nachos, and it came out looking like a baby mountain on a plate. We were both confused because we are used to restaurants serving you Baby Man portions of food and charging you an arm and leg while nickel and diming you, but not Bonk's. We don't drink alcohol, but if you don't looks like they have you covered. Looks like a cool, bar atmosphere, and I'd imagine it can get pretty lively when one of our Philly sports teams are playing. Our waitress was nice, and very helpful, but she was one of the types where you had to get her attention for her to help you. Some waiters just take the initiative to provide you a refill without you asking them for one. It wasn't busy at the time so that was a strange Jawn. I can't wait to go back to try more items on the menu. We moved to the neighborhood from Brewerytown/Strawberry Mansion, and I'm glad to have this spot right around the corner from where we live. A+ Edit: Went back to Bonk's on a whim during the week while running some errands during the day. I ordered a Steak w/ Fries Onions and the fries. The Steak was OK. We live in a city with world-class Cheesesteaks, so maybe ordering one from a "Bar" wasn't a good idea. Wifey had a Cod Fish Sandwich that was damn good, though. I had an issue with the waitress. She seemed decently nice, as she would check on us periodically. When we got the bill, I was kind of thrown off that we were charged for soda refills when we weren't the first time. She said they don't normally give our free refills (which is fine if you let the patrons know ahead of time so they can choose for themselves), but she said she sometimes charge people for every OTHER refill... Well, she charged us for every single one of them. Keep in mind this was during the day and we were the only people dining and it was just a couple of people drinking some alcohol at the bar. Her telling me that she charged us for every refill but had the discretion to do whatever she wanted left a bad taste in my mouth. She seemed very timid around us, too, which is wild in North Philly where I'd hope she's been around enough black people. We tripped her well, but I wish I hadn't have after her explanation on the refills. The night crew was cool, the daytime bar/waitress sucks!

Bonk’s has a dive bar vibe where regulars drink their Rolling Rock and pass their time. Plenty of big TVs to view sports without all the hassle of a sports bar. The bar is located in a rougher warehouse area, but all is fine. The traditional wooden bar and tables make for good seating arrangement. The beer and hard booze selections are impressive. The pub menu tends towards the seafood offerings. I always get their wonderfully generous Alaskan King Crab, a house specialty. So many dipping sauces besides butter. Hint: the Old Bay sauce drastic perfection. The menu has many items for the non-seafood person. I always treat myself to the King Crab. Oh, yes.

Wow, do not miss out on this neighborhood bar! Atmosphere feels like a dive bar but the food is absolutely incredible. The nachos were some of the best I’ve had in awhile. They give it a unique twist by covering the chips in old bay. The seafood boil was fresh and I loved the garlic sauce. Nachos, seafood boil, and beer was enough for two people. They have a nice assortment of beers on tap. The classics as well as some fun craft ones. It was a fantastic experience and food was a great value as well. I want to try their alcoholic slushees Next time. Can’t wait to return!

I've been here before. But boy!........What a difference..... To the negative! 1 girl working BOTH BAR AND TABLES! THEY NEED HELP.... TO SAY THE LEAST! I ORDERED AN APPETIZER. I ASKED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE APPETIZER CAME OUT FIRST. BY THE TIME I GOT IT... AT LEAST 20 MINUTES LATER.... A GOOD CROWD CAME IN. IF ROUGHLY 11 - 17 PEOPLE. I WAS WAAAAAYY FINISHED MY APPETIZER. WHEN I NOTICED, THAT EVERYONE GOT SERVED FOOD THAT CAME IN AFTER ME.... AND I WAS STILL WAITING FOR MY ENTRÉE. I SAID..... "WHERE'S MY FOOD?" GIRL RESPONSE WAS... I SAID I WANTED APPETIZER FIRST! YEAH! I EXCLAIMED.... BUT I DIDN'T WANT MY FOOD AFTER EVERYONE ELSE GOT SERVED! I SAID... BAG IT....I'LL TAKE IT TO GO. AS I LOST MY APPETITE AT THAT POINT..... MORE WAYS THAN ONE! AND HAD TO WAIT AN ADDITIONAL 10- 15....FOR THAT! THE FOOD IS DECENT TO GOOD. I'D GIVE THEM A 7. BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHETHER IT TANGIBLE OR BY PHONE.... IS WHAT I LOOK FOR. NEVER AGAIN! DON'T HAVE THE TIME. SO CUSTOMERS KNOW THAT IF YOU COME IN FOR LUNCH.... YOU PROBABLY GET SERVED DINNER.... BY THE TIME IT COMES. AND I SAT AT THE BAR....TOO CRAZY, UNTIL...

Food is really really good. I mean super great. It was very surprising. I'd call it a gem. I had the fried oysters and they're probably one of the best fried oysters I've ever had anywhere and I've lived in New York right in Manhattan and Hell's kitchen. I lived in Brooklyn. I've lived in North Carolina. I've lived in Virginia. I've lived in Atlantic City, Ocean City, New Jersey. I mean I've had them all over the place at almost every Jersey shore place and this place takes the Cake hands down. I had the chicken parm and the sauce was robust. Everything was really really good I would have given it a 5.0 on the food except the chicken parm came out like a little cold which was odd and then I wish they used semolina red. Other than that they nailed everything. Drinks were on point. The...
