I used to look forward to patronizing Cake & Joe, but today has shifted my perspective.
Today, I was held hostage in the restaurant by a customer with a huge dog that went off every time another dog (outside) passed. This dog's behavior was alarming, not only to me, but another customer who was eating in said the dog was to big be inside.
I'm disappointed because the initial hold up was caused by poor service. The woman who rung up my order never packed my pastries and waited on multiple people after me. When my drink was ready, I had to request the pastries I had already purchased, but the woman was again dealing with customers who entered after me.
As I'm waiting to receive my items, someone walks in with a dog that is the height of the counter. The dog starts off sitting peacefully and out of nowhere is on its hind legs barking at a dog on the other side of the window.
I asked the owner if she would remove the dog so that I can leave the cafe and she instead gives the dog a store-provided dog treat. When the staff member heard me ask the owner, again, (because there is no secondary door and the pathway is so tight, there is no way to feel safe walking past this dog) they offered the dog another treat.
The message is very clear - there is a certain demographic they are catering to and regardless of the fact that I frequent this space enough to have earned rewards points, my safety and consideration is none of...
Read moreThe pastries are delightful to the eyes but like their coffee have a mediocre taste overall. I got a hot latte to stay as i was with my kid and figured we would take a break from walking in the neighborhood. The latte wasn't hot but still I tried to drink it because I didnt want to be a pain. After a minute my kid was getting restless and i decided it was time to leave. I asked the register girl for it to go and if they could also possibly steam it for me, but she was obviously bothered and rude. She wasn't nice and when she relayed this to the back of the house they also were bothered and didn't care to let it show. Honestly I should've just left but since I had paid and tipped them I didn't want to walk away empty handed. Seriously so uncomfortable and unpleasant. In response to your comment (cake and joe) I've come here before and have had your deserts and I completely stand by what I said. Your response to my review actually falls in line with the rudeness I mentioned. You guys decided to make the coffee over, no one asked me. Theres no misunderstanding here. Your customer service is disappointing and frankly so is the excuse behind this poorly handled customer encounter. 1 star 🌟 ...
Read moreI was looking forward to trying all the things that Cake & Joe has to offer, but my initial experience was quite disappointing. My friend and I ordered lunch and coffee, planned for a cake after. Drinks were standard, she got an iced coffee and I a matcha. Food took a long time to come out. When it arrived, my salad was not as described. I ordered a “power bowl” that was supposed to have brown rice and quinoa, which was a big selling point for me. Instead it came out with neither grain and with white rice instead. It was a first for me to have white rice and romaine salad for $14. It was not good and a bit confusing. I just ate the 5 slivers of chicken, egg, and avocado. I would have ordered something different if they had told me they were out of certain product, but they failed to do so. Even after approaching the counter and saying something, there was no remedy to the situation. So basically my friend and I decided we wouldn’t order dessert and not return to this establishment. Seems as though they need to work on their communication and...
