Urban Exchange Project — Local services in Philadelphia

UPDATE: This is long over due, but it has to be said. I refuse to set foot in here anymore because of how I was treated. I brought my husband here about a month ago on a Thursday around 4:30-5pm. I was excited to show him around and there was some woman working dressed like Kim Davis (that lady in Kentucky who wouldn’t let gay people get married) wearing a long, jean skirt. This is a consignment shop and I was under the impression that they bought clothes from anyone. I had no idea they had a supplier. So I asked this woman if they bought clothing from people because I have some designer clothing that I barely wore that I could part with. She gave me a dirty look and sneered at me “No!” And that was that. No further explanation. Just “NO!”

I let it go, taken aback by her rudeness and after a few minutes my husband and I left. I asked him when we left “Was it just me or did that lady sound rude to you?” He agreed. She was rude in the way she answered my question.

I went back in a few days later and asked another staff member the same question and she responded politely that they have a supplier they buy their clothing from. Was that really so hard? She was nice to me and didn’t act offended, so what gives????

I really like the other staff members. They’re all very friendly and kind. Unfortunately I think this woman is an owner or a manager so I will no longer be returning. —————— I love this shop! AN ABSOLUTE MECCA FOR INCREDIBLE DEALS, STYLES, VINTAGE PIECES and TRENDS!!! I have followed this store since opening and it has blown ALL THE WAY up to be THE spot in Philly for a quick outfit, distressed jacket, one of a kind pieces, or a complete wardrobe change for CHEAP! The store screams an edgy, eclectic and authentic voice, but still showcases style and trends—old and new.

I'm an avid thrifter and I can honestly say, this is my all-time favorite store for finding one-of-a-kind items to add to my wardrobe. The store offers items for the budget-friendly shopper like myself. Some pieces are taken and roughed up a bit, adding embellishments or distress, and given a few-dollar price tag! They also offer true VINTAGE items at a fair price, if not, underpriced (not like some of these "vintage" stores around town that charge an arm and a leg for no reason.) But the items I look for and find are a FEW BUCKS, like for a jacket! A pair of pants! Hats, glasses, accessories, it's endless here. Plus they restock what seems like every day.

I haven't participated in the fill-a-bag sales, but I've seen people go absolutely nuts, having a ball walking with an obscene amount of clothing for cheap.

10/10 you need to pop into this store!! Although they seem to be gaining more and more popularity, esp in their dope location on Frankfurt Ave, so this post of gratitude might keep me from finding my new favorite cardigan, but the Philly people need to know. Some fun jackets I've found on the...

I don't recommend this place for a few reasons. And after today's experience I will definitely not be returning.

The older woman in the back is very rude. I had asked to try on a few bargain items and she said that was not allowed. I've been here many times and it's never been an issue. Today she decided to give me a major attitude after saying it's not allowed, but let me do it anyway? As I'm in the room about to try something on, she's talking to another coworker saying "there's signs everywhere saying this, like just pick your favorite 4 items and get out." I just put everything back and left. The clothes are often stained, dirty, missing buttons, and broken zippers. And yet you can't try them on to get a better look. It's a shame because the gentleman in the front is always so helpful and nice. I really liked supporting this business, but speaking to people like that...
