This was my first time ever going to Chickie & Petes!! I always get crab fries at all of the stadium events or whenever I see the food truck. I've always wanted to go but Never made my way across the bridge. I was in the area so we stopped in to get Dinner. Went in to get a table(It was at a busy time) Hostess was kind of Confused...I tell her my name and give her the number of people she looks at me and asked "Did we text you yet?" I said I am giving you my information so that I can get a text..... We wait a good 30 mins... Which isnt a problem...It was a Dinner Rush.... We get seated.... We wait for over 10 minutes for our waitress to come to our table to get our drink orders in(again not a problem it was busy). She drops the Drinks off but doesnt ask did we want to put an appetizer in so we wait some more. My drink(a pomegranate Margarita) was practically juice!! I did not get a second!! Meanwhile the Music is ridiculously loud!! You can barely hear yourself think let alone hold a conversation. Even my 11 year old said it was giving him a headache.. The waitress comes back and We put the appetizers orders in. At this time we were told that The food comes out as it is done. So we ordered 2 appetizers but they both didnt come out at the same time. Okay not a problem... We put our food order in.. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, My son ordered the Lobster Cheese Steak and my Husband ordered a burger. We got Crab fries for the table. The Crab Fries come out first. They were absolutely seasonless!!! There was hardly any Old bay... They were so lightly seasoned with old bay that you may need a magnifying glass to see the specks. I have never had Chickie & Petes Fries that werent full of Old Bay!! Not these fries... My neighborhood Sopranos puts more Old Bay on their fries when I order out at home!! SOooooo Disappointing!!! So we have the fries for a good 10 minutes before the food comes out. And when I say food I mean just my sons Lobster Cheesesteak. Which he did like but he said the Lobster was a lil chewy. Another 10-15 minutes goes by before I get my Buffalo Chicken Sandwich.....Which was great!! Good Portion but too much Buffalo sauce which I expected that was okay though. Another 10-15 minutes before my husbands Burger comes out. Which he also enjoyed. The only issue is my son was sitting bored because he was done and I was practically done as well. Our table was ready @ 5:15pm, we didnt leave until after 7pm. If the food all came out at the same time maybe people wouldnt have to wait so long to be seated because the table would be done all at the same time. I overheard someone say they had to have there time bumped because they wouldnt seat them if the whole party wasnt there. How is that fair? You get to give me my food at different times so what difference does it make if 1 person in my party is running 5 minutes late? Here nor there, I had my Chickie & Petes experience and I guess its a 1 and done kind of thing... Although me and my husbands sandwich was good we will not be back.. It was a major turn off... I have attached the Famous Crab Fries... Minus...
Read moreIt was a Saturday, the weekend before the Superbowl. You know, when there aren't many sports on television(NHL AllStar break. NFL is doing some weird flag football or something, baseball's not back yet)? But it was still pretty crowded for a Saturday at around dinner. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait. No big deal, my boyfriend left his name and number with the hostesses(3 or 4 at the podium), we sat in some chairs near the bar, and ordered some beers. We were so deep in conversation, over an hour went by before we notice that it had been longer than 45 minutes. My boyfriend went to inquire, and on the walk to our table, tells me that the hostesses had 4 people with the same name, and mixed us up, but that we could have the spot of one of the four who didn't show. (Why not take last initials as well? And they didn't all have the same phone number, so what the heck?) Our waiter came and took our drink and food orders. He put them in, and returned with plates, napkins and silverware shortly before my calamari came out. The silverware was filthy. One of the plates looked as if it hadn't even been wiped clean, and I kid you not, the napkins were dirty. The waiter comes, takes them back, apologizes, returns with clean items. My mussels come out. The waiter puts them in front of my boyfriend. No biggie. We've received drinks, an app, and my entree at this point. 10 more minutes or so go by, my boyfriend still has no food. The waiter comes out and asks us if we're doing ok, completely. We're like, no. We're missing an entire entree. He apologizes, and 10 MORE minutes later, my boyfriend has his burger, which he said was just not good, it was dry. We eat our meal, and when we're done eating, we order another round of beers. Waiter brings out the check, puts it in front of me(lol). No problem, I'll pay. But my boyfriend wants to pay. Takes the check from me, in front of the waiter, pulls out his card, and the waiter walks away. Comes back 5 minutes later (5 FULL minutes), takes the check from my boyfriend, comes back with the paper you sign, and puts it back in front of me. Wth, dude?
Overall, we understand that it was Saturday, and sort of busy, but there were just so many things that went wrong that were just the result of sheer laziness. My boyfriend is from the neighborhood, and feels that it's the direct result of hiring friends of friends. The service was terrible. Except the bartender. He was awesome.
We're not swearing off the place,...
Read moreI felt compelled to write this review about my experience at Chickie and Pete's in South Philly. What was supposed to be a joyous day planned to attend the Phillies vs Yankees game Tuesday July 30th started off on a sour note.
After traveling over an hour (I live in Montgomery County) I was surprised to find parking relatively easy. I was meeting with a group of 8 Co workers at Chickie and Pete's to have dinner before the game.
The atmosphere seemed nice enough, the place was packed and lively. But the 1st thing that got my attention was how sticky the table was as if they didn't care about the cleanliness of the establishment.
It also took forever to get drinks to the table, while my co workers drank alcohol and I couldn't, it took 20 minutes before we saw any drinks appear at the table. It remained that way the entire meal with little to no refills.
But the real reason why I was compelled to write this review and share my experience is what happened and the blatant unprofessionalism shown by our server.
As we weren't getting separate checks,we generally just split the bill evenly. Our co worker wanted to buy a round of shots for the table. As he was considerate and didn't want to add it to the general bill he took it upon himself to buy directly from the bar.
The server was upset ,we tried explaining the situation but they didn't want to understand. And what happened after this conversation is what truly upset the entire table and is the reason we won't be back at the establishment.
While everyone recieved their entrees, the co worker who had the altercation did not receive his food, we inquired a few times and was told it was coming out(he ordered a cheeseburger). We were done and had to leave to catch the game when we asked a last time when it suddenly showed up...she immediately asked if we wanted it taken off the bill.
Luckily the game turned out spectacular and we all had a great time at the ballpark, what started off on a sour note at the restaurant finished off great.
I will never visit this place again.
I did give it a 2 star for the parking and the food ,when finally served, was actually...
