CYM Island Kitchen — Restaurant in Philadelphia

I visited this place two times the first time I ordered the Crembrule Pancakes (switched the berries for bananas) with orange juice and it was delicious so good that I decided to visit a second time with a friend who had never heard of the place and the 2nd time I ordered the same thing, my Pancakes were so crispy that it was hard to enjoy and all the cream wouldn't even soften it. My friend was also disappointed in the amount of food that was served on his plate. The eggs and potatoes were served in very small portions he was still hungry. Long story short, he's not letting me pick breakfast spots again! I felt bad because the first time everything was so good, I thought we would've had a great experience the second time. This is MY go to spot for Spanish food- I've tried others & they still do not compare - I've been going here for 22years . I dont review much but I had to review the food in this place. I've heard of it being pricey, but the large platter serves for two to three people. The pollo guisao is chicken breast, the bistec and beef stew has no stringy fatty peices. The chef does a great job of trimming. They really saturate with cilantro and go easy on the Adobe. Plenty of times I've reserved expensive center city sit down restaurants and the food is commercial, not authentic Latin cuisine. CYM really should have a dining area with waiters. The food is exceptional....
