For Pete's Sake is a neighborhood restaurant. If you're visiting Philadelphia and want that Philly feeling, grab a parking spot wherever you can, and come looking for a table. The food is inventive and tasty, the beers fresh, and drinks, expensive like every other restaurant. Your meal won't cost more than $18.00 and probably a lot less. It's a comfortable, casual place, so you don't need a tie or high heels. Sit down and enjoy the Philly accents. Pete's isn't accessible for wheelchairs, although, if the weather is good, there are seats on the sidewalk outside. To get to the door, there are about three steps, and inside, to the normal height tables, there are another couple of steps. Diners are mostly young and youngish, often with young children, yet, in my 70s, I like it there.. Dinner is crowded and you might have to wait a bit for a table. Expect to drive around for approximately fifteen minutes looking for parking. Is Pete's worth all this? Well, maybe, depending on your mood. There are other restaurants in the area where the food is as good or better, but Pete's is a place that feels truly comfortable. It is exactly what it seems to be. Below is my 22 x 16" abstract oil painting of my garden. When I'm not eating, I'm painting...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor Pete's Sake is my favorite bar/restaurant in Center City. Okay, I know locals will dispute if they actually exist in South Philly or Center City. But to me, South Philly doesn't begin till Washington Avenue. But regardless of what section of the city you call this you can definitely call For Pete's Sake a great place to eat and drink if you are in Center City OR South Philly. The food is great and reasonably priced, especially being at least on the "edge" of Center City, the drink selection is always solid, and the staff is ALWAYS friendly and accommodating. I've been running outdoor clubs for years now and have used their upstairs space several times, always with a reservation a week or two ahead of time, for groups of 10-30 people. Honestly the only downside, more so for locals, is the space isn't huge so when a group like mine comes in...lol....finding a seat might prove tough. But definitely worth the wait and the owners and managers and entire staff deserve six stars for their accommodating attitude and their overall friendliness. Definitely the type of local place that any neighborhood in any city would love to have call...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery Disappointing from the moment we sat down. My wife and I went here to eat about 2:00 in the afternoon and sat at the bar. Not one, but two couples that came in AFTER us got waited on before us. We looked at each other and was about to leave, then the bartender finally came over. I ordered eggs Benedict and my wife ordered, Cream of potato soup. It was cold and had no potatoes in it. We ordered pierogiās and fried pickles. Everything came out cold, the pierogiās were cold, the fried pickles should burn your mouth when they first come out. Not these. My wife wouldnāt even attempted to try a second one. I inquired about my eggs Benedict because I thought he forgot to put it in. After 20 more minutes went by, the bartender went back to the kitchen to see what the problem was himself. He came back with the cold eggs Benedict. It was sitting in the kitchen for lord knows how long. We went here to try something different. Iāll never go here again. Stick with what you know, it just isnāt worth the bad...
