I had been eager to try them, as I've been on the hunt for some good tasting BBQ ribs lately. They popped up on my search several time's, but were always closed after my work schedule.
I ordered a Rib single platter with one side and cornbread. I liked that the sauce was on the side and not drenched over the ribs. That allowed for me to really get a good taste on the ribs. You can get a good pull on the ribs, they were cooked very well. I had the mild and spicy sauce on the side. The two sauces were pretty good. However, there is a particular taste (flavor) on the ribs that just didn't hit me right. They didn't lack salt, they do have a rub that has flavor on them, but one of those flavors really stand apart. 🤔.... I tasted the macaroni and cheese and to my avail, I could taste that same flavor. It's like a smokey flavor but not, if it makes any sense. As I tasted a little bit more, I think it's smoked paprika (I could be wrong) but that flavor profile is so overpowering. I honestly couldn't finish eating the platter.
I believe for me that if that particular stand alone flavor was not visibly present in the taste, those ribs would have been even better. Again the cook on them are tender, not dry, pull the meat from the bone, but that other flavor messed it up for me. I'll keep on searching for some good ribs here in Philly.
The macaroni & cheese was good. The cheese flavor was simple, not extra with 20 different cheeses like some people do to mask that they cannot make baked macaroni and cheese. This was a good simple recipe used, with the exception of that particular flavor profile. I'm not 100% sure if it's smoked paprika or what, but I'm not a fan of it in my baked macaroni & cheese. The pasta was cooked good and the cheese was distributed evenly.
There are other ways to build a smokey, flavor profile. The ribs could be cooked in liquid smoke. Liquid smoke is a flavoring agent that gives foods a smoky flavor without using actual wood smoke. It's a natural product that's been made for hundreds of years. Or one can use Worcestershire sauce, which is a fermented condiment that adds tang and umami to savory dishes. It's a thin, brown sauce with mustard- and cherry-colored undertones.

Read moreMy boyfriend and I have been coming to long shot bbq for a long time always enjoyed their brisket sandwich but today we ordered delivery and it the worse experience I ever had from this place. We’re so disappointed because this place HAD great bbq. The brisket sandwiches we just opened up upon delivery were not only made incorrectly but they were the most disgusting looking sandwiches I ever saw. They added a runny egg and cheese I didn’t order on my sandwich the egg made it smell so bad. The second brisket sandwich had more coleslaw than brisket it was just disgusting. The brisket has little to no flavor it used to have such a bold peppercorn flavor it’s utterly disappointing. I called for a manager and the young lady said a manager wasn’t going to be in today because they close at 2pm. Please for the sake of your business hire people that care about the business because the person that made those sandwiches today did it with absolutely no love or care. The employees are wasting the owner’s money by half...
Read moreI gave this place 2 tries before writing a review. So for $23 this is the deluxe brisket platter. I feel like for Philly you can find better places for your buck as Philly has some of the best food spots! The sugar cookie looks dry and over cooked but it’s actually moist and delicious! The corn bread both times has been try af. Let down down a bbq spot. The Mac and collard greens are good but again for $23 they skimpy af for a Philly spot. A spoon full ain’t doin it over here ya heard!! The meat isn’t cooked in the bbq sauce either I’m assuming that’s cause they give u options for mild, spicy, and keto. Skip the apple bread whatever it’s called it’s not worth the extra coins. Fry and bland. Same with Chco taco, I ate ur before I could get a pic it was just okay..Overall it’s a solid 3 outta 5. Brisket is...
