A Hidden Gem for Brunch Lovers – Nemi in Fishtown | Last weekend, my partner and I decided to take a break from the usual hustle and bustle of Fishtown brunch spots and explore something new. That’s when we stumbled upon Nemi, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve made for a meal out.
Finding parking was surprisingly easy, which was a relief. As we stepped inside, the warm and welcoming atmosphere immediately made us feel at home. We were greeted by friendly staff who were eager to help us navigate the menu.
I decided to try the Nemi Skillet, and it did not disappoint. It was a hearty combination of farm-fresh vegetables, perfectly seasoned potatoes, savory sausage, and melted cheese, all topped with a perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg. Every bite was a comforting mix of flavors and textures that left me completely satisfied.
My partner opted for the Mahi Tacos, and they were just as impressive. The mahi-mahi was tender and flaky, grilled to perfection and nestled in soft corn tortillas. The tacos were topped with a vibrant cilantro-lime slaw, creamy avocado slices, and a drizzle of their signature zesty sauce. The freshness of the ingredients really stood out and made each taco a delightful experience.
We also enjoyed their exceptional coffee, which was rich and aromatic, providing the perfect complement to our meal. The house-made chips were another highlight – crispy and flavorful, they were the perfect start to our brunch.
The service at Nemi was impeccable. The staff were attentive and genuinely seemed to care about our dining experience, which made the meal even more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a brunch spot that offers something a little different with high-quality ingredients and a welcoming vibe, I highly recommend checking out Nemi. Their menu is full of delicious options that are sure to impress. Take a look at their offerings here and make a reservation – you won’t be disappointed. Read moreI am so glad we finally walked over here. It's an unassuming corner spot, but the interior is SO charming. Your first glance is the beautiful bar, stocked with all the tequilas you could want. It's cozy, and welcoming.
The dining area is further back and gives you a great view of the kitchen pass. For the size of the kitchen, they turn out some delightfully amazing food.
We started with the elote (street corn) and the trio chips/salsa. The elote was pleasantly understated. It was cooked perfectly and the texture was luxurious.
I really enjoy some crunch so these house-made chips and trio of salsas was perfect! I think the salsa verde is my favorite, but I'll need to go back a few times to make sure. 😉 The heat on each was just right and built up the more you eat. I like heat, so this was perfect for me.
The tacos, oh the tacos (3 p/order)! Chef husband had the pork belly with habañero salsa, and I had the grilled avocado with pickled onion. The pork belly was perfectly cooked, and the only down side was that it seemed like I had the only taco with the full piece of pork belly; meat and fat. It was delicious.
The grilled avocado NEEDS the pickled onion. It's a full half of an avocado, which when grilled is nice and creamy, but not a ton of flavor. This is where the pickled onions come in. This combo was insanely delicious and I would order this again.
Did I mention the cocktails?! Chef husband had the cucumber margarita and I had the Mexican Old Fashioned. The trip was worth it just for these drinks. If I could have ordered this in a gallon jug, I would have. It was THAT GOOD!
Long review short, go. Spend the $$, and make yourself happy for a little while. You deserve it, and so does your waitstaff. Please tip, no, please OVER...
Read moreGood food and good drinks but a bit too pricey and pretentious. The margaritas are served in small glasses that are filled-solid with ice at $15-$20 per drink. I have to seriously question the business model of this. Perhaps some people are willing to spend that kind of money for a glass of ice because the taste is admittedly decent. But this is Philadelphia, and so there are many more Mexican restaurants with great margaritas that have flare and flavor within a short walk from Nemi. Those margaritas are not 90% ice. As I said the food is good, but it is overpriced and some dishes , like the tacos, were extremely underwhelming (small and dry). A small cramped place that is likely going to cash in on its "fifteen minutes"and then disappear if they don't ditch the nickel and diming. Nemi: You've got the patrons, now try to keep them with a little more value for the money and more consistent quality. If you don't, when those people who are looking for the "next new place" move on to the that other "next newer place," you'll be closing your doors like so many other places in this city with the same business model. It's not a long term plan....
