Jaizelle Hanna Studio — Local services in Philadelphia

Bare with me, as this review will very likely be long! I will modify this review to include my wedding pictures after my wedding at the end of the month so everyone can appreciate the beautiful work that Jaizelle did. I couldn't wait to share this review with the internet, as I feel like everyone (in this case bride's looking for a tailor for their wedding dress) should be blessed to have a tailor as brilliant as Jaizelle.

Jaizelle's studio was recommended by BHLND when I went to pick up my dress, and after some internet searching I decided that I was going to try and see if Jaizelle could work on alterations on my dress that was 4 weeks away. First off, she was extremely responsive and accommodating. I was able to get a consultation within a couple of days, where she explained to me the entire process of what would be happening. At the consultation, she went through (in detail) all the things that she would do to the dress and what she recommended based on the fit that I wanted and would best flatter my figure. I never felt like she forced me into getting alterations that I did not think I needed. Not only did she assure me that she could get the alterations done in time, but I felt like her pricing was EXTREMELY reasonable and I felt completely comfortable paying her for the services she charged. The thing that I was pleasantly surprised with was, after I decided to hire her for the alterations, she pulled out her contract and went in detail through it. Seriously, I have never ever had anyone do this before (in a good way!) and I left completely satisfied that we went through all of 'what ifs' 'what not's, etc. I left that appointment with every single question answered. She made sure to double, triple check with me if I had any lingering questions, and if I did, I could always call her up to ask.

The turnaround time for the alterations was so much faster than I expected, which gave me a huge sigh of relief considering I had a wedding date that was fast approaching. Again, she was extremely accommodating for me to come in to the second fitting. As soon as I put it on, it fit perfectly. I almost cried as I did when I first bought the dress. The dress fit even better than I imagined. I have a big bust, and (with the adjustments) the padding that came with the dress sat a little too high on my chest after the adjustment. I thought I would leave and come back another time to try it on but to my surprise, Jaizelle literally sat down and adjusted the dress while I was at her studio. After about 10 minutes, she was done and it looked absolutely perfect! I have since left with the dress and I have a huge weight off my shoulders. It fit me perfectly.

Her goal was for me to leave her studio happy and satisfied, and she made sure to stress that on both of my fittings. I cannot recommend Jaizelle's services enough! Not only is she an extremely talented tailor, but she is also the kindest human being with a heart of gold. I so much enjoyed our conversations about her experiences in the film industry as she adjusted my dress! I hope that if any bride out there is trying to decide on where to take your dress to get altered at, you choose her studio. I can assure you that Jaizelle has a passion for what she does and genuinely cares about her customers leaving with a smile on their face. I was referred to Jaizelle to have my wedding gown altered. My wedding was planned in a total of about 7 weeks due to an illness in the family, when I purchased my dress I had about 5 weeks left to have the dress done. I called Jaizelle, we set up a day to meet and I explained the situation and how little time was left. Not only did she assure me that she would be able to have it done in time, she was so kind and caring about the situation I was in. My schedule was hectic during the next couple of weeks, she was so accommodating so we could get together each visit and always asked how my family was doing and was genuinely concerned. She was very professional, helped make suggestions and explained everything she was going to do to the dress in detail. It really shows how much she loves what she does. My dress required quite a bit of work, including a custom bustle and removing and reattaching by hand all of the scalloped lace on the bottom of my dress. My venue was close by and she even offered to come by if I needed any help with bustling the dress the day of the wedding. I loved my dress when she was finished with it and I think her prices are very reasonable. She is so professional, caring and welcoming. I went back to her the following year to have my gown turned into a christening dress for my daughter, again with not a lot of time to do it and really just an idea on the shape of the dress I wanted. I was interested in working with Jaizelle after reading her stellar Google reviews, and knew that she was the right fit for me after having our first consultation phone call.

I was less than two months out from my ceremony date, hadn't bought my dress yet, and wanted someone to alter/customize this dress, that had yet to be bought, with my mothers vintage wedding gown. It was a lot to ask, and I wasn't sure if it was even possible, but Jaizelle gave me the confidence that she would be able to make it happen. She was calm and reassuring in her tone, the exact voice of reason and direction that I needed at the time.

Flash forward to a month and half away from my ceremony. I bought my dress and had my appointment with Jaizelle. She was extremely welcoming and warm, as if I had already known her for years. Again she made me feel confident that I made the right choice. She treated my mothers gown with the upmost respect and delicacy. With little time, I knew that she wouldn't be able to do any extravagant customization with the two dresses, and I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do either. We had a brainstorming session together, where she walked me through a handful of options that she would be able to do, and we made the decision!

I am now a week away from my ceremony, have my customized dress, and could NOT be happier. My happiness is all do to Jaizelle and her work, and the entire process of working with her.
