I had a terrible experience at Nifty Fifty's on 5/10/2025 & it was bad enough for me to write about it, which is saying something. My kid was taking me for a pre-Mother's Day kayak trip and after kayaking for a few hours, we decided to grab a bite from Nifty Fifty's. I'm a vegetarian. I also do not eat that "Impossible" or "Beyond" stuff because I think it tastes horrible. We opened the door to the place & a nice young lady informed us that we had to order at the outdoor window. She showed us where we could get menus and we took two and proceeded to decide what we wanted to get. After a few minutes of going over the menu, we picked the items we wanted & I tried to order my sub. I asked for a sub with sauteed onions, mushrooms & green peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and oil. I also asked for no meat on the sub. The nice young lady taking the order went to the person cooking & that person said NO! What? She came back awkwardly to the window and explained that they couldn't do that. We were incredulous! We asked if they could just bill us for the meat, but not put the meat on the sub. She went back and again the answer was no. I explained that I was a vegetarian and didn't eat meat, so I didn't want the meat to touch the sub roll. She said she "had" to put the meat on the sub and I could just take it off. The funny thing is that she was very nice while explaining what her boss/chef told her. I couldn't even be upset with her, even though what she was saying was utterly ridiculous. I thought that my explaining skills might be deficient, so I tried again to politely explain that I don't eat meat and I just wanted a sub with no meat. This was again met with "I understand, but we can't do that. You can just take the meat off.". After that, I didn't turn all Karen on them. Instead, my kid & I decided to go elsewhere and we walked across the street to Oregon Steaks where my no-meat sub order was met with kindness & a smile, quickly taken, efficiently processed & fantastically fulfilled! The Oregon Steaks sub was great and it was my first time there, but it won't be my last! When a company like Nifty Fifty's refuses service because of their "anti-vegetarian" feelings, don't get angry - vote with your dollars and spend your money elsewhere. There are tons of places, like Oregon Steaks, that will make you feel welcome and take your order. My kid likes Nifty Fifty's milkshakes and, after I ordered at Oregon Steaks, they went back to Nifty and got something. I don't begrudge that. However, I will never come back to this Nifty Fifty's again. I don't know why they refused to make me a vegetarian sub with no meat or what their issue was, but it doesn't matter to me. When a company doesn't provide good service, I just write honesty about it so I can warn my fellow purchasers. I'm a vegetarian and if you don't want to accommodate someone asking for no meat on a sub roll that already doesn't have meat on it, then there are tons of other businesses that will. If you're a vegetarian or have special dietary restrictions, steer clear of Nifty Fifty's on Oregon & Alder and go to Oregon Steaks, which is right across the street on the opposite corner of...

I recently went to the Nifty Fifty’s on 2700 s 10th street at 8:30pm on Saturday, September 30th and I only want to be specific about the date and time because I didn’t get anyone’s name who was working this shift. But I was just getting off a very long and gruesome shift ant work and I usually get fast food but I wanted to treat myself to a shake. I arrived and could tell it was extremely busy and I was dreading waiting but I had already ordered on DoorDash. Going into the building was honestly a refreshing experience. The staff was moving quickly but taking care of every order with high attention to detail. Even with the long wait they didn’t make anyone feel as they were being overwhelmed or inconvenienced. They communicated every order status and apologized if there was a wait. It was so efficient! They also made sure they supported each other with encouraging words during a hectic time. I loved that! And when I did get my order it was freshly made and hot! It was so pleasant to see a quick service restaurant take so much pride in their product and work so well at a fast pace. I can’t wait until the next time I treat myself to a delicious shake!! Maybe...

First time back here since they opened. I kept hearing how they’d mess up ppl’s orders, so I wanted to see how their service was for myself. No line and only one other person ahead of me waiting for their order. Should be a smooth experience, right? WRONG! I waited at the window. Pressed the bell. Waited some more. Finally someone came. Placed my order 2x double bacon cheeseburgers and 2x fries. Fairly simple order. They couldn’t mess this up, right? WRONG! Got my burgers, but no fries! Checked my receipt. She never put that I ordered the fries. That would have been if I did and drove off. So now I’m waiting on 2x fries. At least they’ll be nice and hot, right? WRONG! They were soggy and greasy! YUCK! Do yourself a favor, go across the street to Oregon Steaks instead for food. You want a milkshake? Go down the street to Pop’s or Munchies! I don’t work for any of those places. No one paid me to plug their businesses.I’m just speaking...

Service is horrible, one outside menu for the whole establishment that slows down the ordering process, no organization in regards to staff and ordering and picking up food, food was terrible and cold when picking it up, Order two milk shakes but they were made in a machine that was never cleaned, No regards for food allergies. {***Update Aug 25th 2020*** The company still dose not clean the blender when making milkshake, walked past and took a look in the window and saw the blender oozing with ice cream like before}

This place isn't worth a second, much less third visit. If you order online or in person it always takes 20+ minutes to get even just milkshakes. It looks like a well oiled machine until you realize no one seems to know what anyone else is doing. They have a lot of fun flavors, but warm custard is just nasty no matter what you shake in it. Just as a bit of proof, while we waited over 20 minutes for only 2 milkshakes, these guys were sitting the milkshakes under the heat lamps with food as shown in the picture.
