I have finally found a cheesesteak from Philly worthy of truly enjoying!!!
Unlike those other Steak Ems style tourist traps, this one uses quality ribeye steak, with a decent amount of it in the roll.
As much as the steak was much better quality than other places, the flavor combos were unreal, and truly what puts them over the top.
I found the place from a review of the P'unk, and was not punked by it... This one adds sizeable flavorful fried onion rings, with a wonderful gouda cheese, and a signature sauce with a lot of zing. The combination of flavors come together superbly, that my gf who was "full" and didn't want anything kept trying to take it from me and ended up eating half of it. The sauce has you wanting more even hours after it is gone. It was easily one of the best steak subs I've ever had.
We also got the Every Day I'm Truffling, and as mentioned, she was full so we didn't end up eating it right away, but it even held up nicely a few hours later. The multiple levels of truffle burrata, truffle oil, and truffle oil leave you with that truffle bliss you expect from truffles. It wasn't as amazing of a flavor combo as the other sub, because it was more several version of the same flavor... but that flavor comes through well, and if you like truffle, you're going to love this sub. I would suggest they find a mushroom to add to it to break up the flavor & texture of the sub a bit with something that compliments the sub & truffle flavor adding another element to the sub (and may request they add them next time I get there).
However, they have such an extensive menu, and all of it looks so good, that I am definitely going to explore a lot more of it next time I go.
The counter staff was extremely friendly, and the food came up quick, too.
I cannot recommend this...
Read moreFirst time coming to Nipotina. Great location, chill vibes, and excellent customer service. We will definitely dine in at some point.
We ordered takeout, The Eye and The Chopped Chic so that we could share and taste both. The price was comparable to the surrounding sandwich businesses, not bad for all that you receive. The roll to meat ratio was great. Meat quality was great. Fresh onions chopped into the meat, excellent choice. The roll was perfect (roll makes a sandwich). However, the sandwiches were extremely greasy. Not good and soaked through the paper it was wrapped in. We added Provolone to The Eye and probably should have stuck with the Cooper Sharp. The taste was completely off. The Chopped Chic maybe should have been chopped more (we saw that option) so next time, we will make that selection. Seemed like thigh meat instead of chicken breast, but this was a specialty sandwich. Overall, not bad for an initial visit. Next time we will know how to order according to what we like. We will be...
Read moreWe love to try sandwich shops in Philly, and this was our first time at Nipotina. Such a cute place to eat! We were greeted by super friendly staff, who answered all our questions, and was very attentive. I got the P’unk cheesesteak which had delicious fried onion rings on it and smoked Gouda cheese. The roll was seeded, soft and fresh and the signature sauce was spot on! My husband got the Millie hoagie. It was packed with delicious Italian meats and sharp provolone cheese. My son got the Little Louie cutlet sandwich. The broccoli rabe was done perfectly, the chicken cutlets were moist and tender! I even tasted my son’s girlfriend’s vegan cheesesteak, and it was actually really good. We can’t wait to try all the other delicious sandwiches on this menu! I took off one star from atmosphere just because it was super cold...
