We had a long layover in Philadelphia and decided a short break in south Philly for food and beverage was worth the $20 one way Uber trip. It was a Monday and after careful scrutiny of google food options, settled on Tap room on 19th for the good reviews, menu and draft beer list. We arrived right after 12:00 opening and found a lightly busy establishment and stayed for several hours. We loved the place, the owners, and the locals who stopped in, and chatted with us. Well above par food. We started with a spring salad which they split for us followed by cheesesteak sandwich, and ultimately a the crab fries. Teresa and I are smiling as we write this, a great Monday afternoon with folks we never met before. Attached is a photo with owners/staff, as we definitely had more fun than they did (we were drinking), we truly felt they enjoyed the time as well. We had a great time there….nice job Pete.

I believe I had the falafel wrap, it was late and they only had one or two options available. It was a simple but unusual combination of flavors with sweet potatoes, but was actually a surprisingly nice dish. Plenty filling with the fries and the price was relatively reasonable. Atmosphere wise it was interesting, but a crazy loud tiny little pub on the corner. If you want a quiet spot, this wasn't it. :) Parking was kind of a nightmare, after circling for 10 minutes I did manage to find a tight spot on a side street to squeeze into, but people are literally parked in the middle of the road and wall to wall. Definitely worth checking out if you are nearby.

The Taproom of 19th. Nice neighborhood taproom. Looks like it has recently been renovated. Bartender and waiter were attentive and helpful. The cheesesteak was very tasty and small. It did come with a lot of french fries and they filled me up. I also re-learned my lesson about asking the price of a craft beer before I order it. Everyone at the bar seemed like they knew each other and were having a great time. If I lived in the neighborhood I am sure I would be there regularly.

UPDATE: I returned because they have yet another chef. The bacon, nutella, french toast was absolutely amazing. unfortunately, they were out of bananas that day. I had the omelette of the day, which was provolone, shitake mushrooms, and caramelized onions. There were no onions in it for some reason and barely any cheese. It was maybe a 2 egg omelette at the largest (I could have held it in my hand) and came with no sides. I suggest you go to Melrose Diner up the street for a cheaper omelette that is 4 times the size and more delicious. they have delicious bloody mary's! if it wasn't for the good drinks and french toast it would have been a bust. They're getting better but it's still a work in progress.

So this was my favorite bar in the city (esp. under new management) but the menu changed and it looks like they got a new chef. This is a huge disappointment and my friends and I won't be coming here like we used to. The beer menu is good but that's it. The pretzel dish is nasty. I'm a huge foodie and now I'll be moving on to a different place...too bad, you did have some of the best food in the city until this change. I wish I had known, I would have come by and ordered like 10 things on the menu for a...

I've been patronizing the TapRoom on 19th for over 6 years. I've watched the owners change but one thing was a given the servers and bartenders were ALWAYS customer oriented. WELL NOT ANYMORE! There's a bartender/server named MARK who is down right miserable, nasty, and definitely should change professions!!!! Mark gets very upset when the patron such as myself are Having a good time. Granted I'm not quite by any stretch but, sweetie if you want to work in a quiet atmosphere become a librarian not a bartender!! Needless to say I won't be returning! My advice is if your vocal/fun loving and don't want to be scolded for being as such STAY OUT OF THE TAPROOM WHEN MARKS WORKING!!!! I know it Monday's not really sure of the grinch who stole the good out of good times schedule!!! We wouldn't want to upset him by paying customers actually enjoying themselves. I didn't rush into writing because I am in the business ironically so I know the struggle. BUT THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME I HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF BEING ON THE RECEIVING END OF MARKS SOUR DISPOSITION and trust there will NEVER be...

Not great for first time there. Went mid afternoon when it was not busy. Limited dark beers I liked for a "tap room" and food service was more than slow. Took 45 min for sandwich which was raw and had to go back. Took another 20-30 min.Waitstaff very nice but not very attentive, especially since not crowded. By the time I got food I had to leave after almost a total of 1.5 hrs. Food was overpriced for what you get and everything was heavy, greasy and overseasoned. Someone like to put sauces on all the dishes. My co workers dishes were nothing special. I was so hopeful because it is near work and I love beer and places with good atmosphere. Atmosphere just ok. More sports pub than expected in center city. Hated the shared sinks in the open and bathrooms-weird set up. Im sure its good for happy hour but I wont be spending $23 for lunch again that took over an hour to get, once cooked right. Way too expensive for a not so...
