Original's is honestly the best pizza I've had in this part of the northeast. Especially after covid. It beats all the other places around, based on one thing. Quality. The restaurant/food industry will always have prices changing as the economy fluctuates. Nowhere in the history of the industry has the price of any food stayed the same. For whatever reason, supply and demand, the value of a dollar, the cost of living, gas, rent etc. The majority of this is almost always out of even the most honest proprietor. The definition of cheap and expensive or fairly priced or overpriced are all based off of that. The one thing that a business isn't supposed to change, if it's a long standing one, is the quality. I cam honestly say, what put this place over the top and is my #1 pick. Is the quality of food here has not changed an inch, despite how hard the economy has changed. There's plenty of reasons to come here. I don't come for nostalgia, I dont come for tradition, I don't come because it's close. I order from here frequently, based off one thing . The quality. It has grown in what they offer, as far as dining, a brand new bar lounge, to build on what it already was. They now have live entertainment, a full bar,and offer way more then just pizza. The menu is now full of things that are particular to this place. They are changing and adapting with the times, which is what any business, musician, store, is supposed to do, while being true to it's origins. There is nothing else around here, that offers what they do as far as atmosphere, menu size, and is enjoyable for all ages. Grab a beer, grab a bite, meet someone new, bump into someone old, pop in, pop out, eat a favorite dish, or expand your pallette. It probably sounds like I work for place or something, or someone a favor. I don't. They don't know my name, I don't hang out there. This place is literally a one and only, and I have watched it grow and I am almost certain it will prosper over the next ten years, into whatever it is that guys who own pizza places want. The best pizza hands down in northeast Philadelphia. Good prices, everyone from the host to owner clearly care about what they do,...
Read moreI've waited until I had several meals here (2 meals and 4 pizzas over the last few years). My fiance likes it (because she grew up around here) so i agree to go. I think this area of Philadelphia just sucks for food. This place is no exception. Over priced for the portions. Today was the final straw. The pizza has always been regrettable and they barely put any mushrooms on it. The sauce is bland and acidic. Also had a chicken parm sandwich. I bet Domino's servers a more authentic chicken parm than this. It should be a kids meal item. Nice service, but Go to wawa if you're hungry.
Edit: why did the owner say I tried to cancel? Not only did I not cancel the order, I tipped the waitress and didn't mention anything about the terrible bland food. It's because I've come to expect that level of food. If the owner can name 1 or 2 other half decent places I'd be surprised. Dagwoods is OK- but way too tight and crowded. I don't know how the owner thinks he can block me from anything. I literally ate in the restaurant. Owners like this are scumbags. Just take the review as feedback. Start making food with some flavor. There's nothing anyone has to believe. Just go order the poor excuse for a chicken parm sandwich and come back and upvote my review. You're pathetic. Lowered my score for service bc of how stupid the response was. True what they say. Any idiot can run a business. Also - I wouldnt expect anyone who's been stuck in one area for 40 years to know how good food is outside...
Read moreWalked in, ordered a "CHEF SALAD". I asked "Do you sell Chef Salads?" She said yes and asked "small or large?" I said "large". She put in the order... $12.00 and some change (I can't remember the change amount). After a couple minutes my order came out. She handed it to me and I thought to myself, "kinda light for a chef salad? I took it and walked out. Got to my car and looked at the receipt stapled to bag. It stated "HOUSE SALAD". Went back in and told her that I ordered a "CHEF SALAD". She said (all bold a direct) "THAT'S THE CLOSEST THING WE HAVE TO A CHEF SALAD". As if I was to accept that and say ok,. "No, I ordered a shelf salad and she said "what's a chef salad? We don't sell that". I said " Do you sell hoagies? Chef salad is a salad with lunch meat." Like ham, turkey, cheese...?". She went to back to get the manager to see if she could HELP me or EVEN CHANGE my order. Because I told her that "I DON'T WANT A HOUSE SALAD". Manager came out and asked "oh, you want like SALAMI...?" I'll put some salami...as she was walking away I said...and ham, cheese, boiled egg...???" They brought it back, correct. ALL THIS BEING SAID, MY POINT... The girl that took my order knew that I asked for a CHEF SALAD, KNEW THEY DID NOT SELL CHEF SALAD BUT BASICALLY, LIED TO ME BY HANDING ME A HOUSE SALAD AND EXPECTED ME TO JUST ACCEPT IT AND BE HAPPY. NO, NOT SO. NEVER again...
