Amazing experience. They had given salad and on top of that option to switch rice with butter naan for the curry which was like am I in India right now? The goat vinadaloo was amazing. Perfect spices and hot. The chicken butter masala was bland but then we asked for mild. I think the flavor was not coming properly. The paneer makhni was also on sweeter side even though we asked for spicy. But they do have something called garlic chili naan, which was a treat. Too much chilies, order on your own risk lol! The regular garlic naan were great too. I enjoyed the presentation of the place and serving. It felt like having the treat in India. The mango lassi was on seeeter side, the sweet one was not so much but freshly made. Overall a good add to neighborhood and Philadelphia India scene, I think if you order according to taste you won’t go wrong.

My kids live near this Indian restaurant, and so before Thanksgiving day, we went for dinner. we ordered, Salmon Tika masala Masala, Shrimp Saguala, Sagg Paner, Lamb Korma, chicken vindaloo, and a side of garlic naan for all of us to share. The food was very fresh, and we ordered all medium level spice, the food came out with a large bowl of basmati rice. My favorite items were the Lamb Korma and the chicken vindaloo. the Salmon TIka masala I did not love. but loved the Tika Masala sauce. the saag paner was just ok. Small place with a few chairs for tables. Service was provided by a young man who was probably a family member, Black large dishes to at off of but the utensils were plastic packed silverwareish.

Ordered chicken tikka biryani for 18$, and it was too bland and no taste . It’s like eating plain rice with little masala in it. And the chicken pieces were cut into chunks as if it’s a fried rice and they were too bland. The rice they used is a mix of basmati and normal rice, which is not normal for a biryani. Please remove the name authentic Indian from your restaurant’s name if you can’t deliver authentic food. There’s a second edit . There is a whole piece of tamarind in the rice and it’s disgusting and I threw everything away. I don’t know how they were ok with this

The food is flavorful. The first time I ordered were chicken tikka masala, goat karahi and butter naan. Everything was great, we even had leftover curry so my wife order a basket of naan the next day. Sadly, this batch had tiny pebbles on some of the breads. Unfortunately, when we ate, it was midnight and didn't had a chance to bring it back to the restaurant. I guess it was partly my fault for waiting til the evening of next day to bring it back. The owner assumed I was lying because of the long delay to return the food (3/4 were untouched), which lead to a heated conversation. My intention was to get a replacement and I would had order more food to accommodate the new naans. Sadly a good experience ruined by poor customer service.

Update: the restaurant did called back later to apologize and offer to replace or refund the naan. I'm still frustrated by the experience but it is not entirely the restaurant fault. I'm doing an update to let people know that the restaurant does take responsibility for their mistakes.

TL:DR Good food, worth the try. A misunderstanding happened, restaurant took responsibility to correct...

This is the best Indian food in Philly, not just south Philly but the entire city of Philadelphia. Ive eaten at upscale Indian restaurants such as Veda, karma and Indeblue and this little hole in the wall beats them cause of the authenticity of the dishes. I just went to a North Indian restaurant in Edison (essentially part of India) and all I could think about is how much better Saffron's chicken tikka is compared to their's. I order it medium spicy and it has the PERFECT kick to it. I am also shocked how amazing their naan (bread) is as well. When I order Indian takeout I'm prepared to get lesser quality naan compared to those upscale restaurants I've discussed, however this is not the case for Saffron at all. Their laccha paratha is so flakey and so perfect every time I want to cry. This place is the definition of a gem and l really hate to see 1 star reviews complaining about their delivery or order experience. This is in my top 3 of best Indian food I have ever tried and man I have dined at an insane amount of Indian...
