In the city delivering a instacart. Googled soul food near me and this was the first place to pop up. Even though I saw they only ranked 3.6 stars I was like Iâm not going to read the reviews imma just go get something to eat. I was there had some laughs at first but then started to order. I ordered my sons food first and then when I am about to order mine the other lady pops up and says âyou taking too long you gonna have to hold onâ and this is while the other girl is in the middle of taking my order. I already expressed this is my first time and still received the craziest service. I then said well wow. If you want to be like that Iâm good. Iâll go give the other folks my business. Now I love supporting black owned businesses but I donât like supporting businesses that act like they are still serving out of the kitchen. Like this is your store your business your everything that you worked for and you are running folks away because you donât know basic customer service. And the fact that your prices are crazy and you donât really have much to choose from as in a full entree id say work with your customers a little. Catfish is $14 but you donât get no sides with it. The sides are $6 and more. So now just to get catfish with decent sides Iâm paying over $30. Thatâs crazy. For one meal. So I took myself to another restaurant and paid $37 and received two meals with two sides for each meal. Like you canât have high prices and poopy attitudes. Now you have two reasons for people not to come back. Now if you had a poopy attitude and the food was good and cheap yea I wouldnât mind coming back because the food was cheap. Letâs make...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of trying Greedy Soul Food Restaurant, and the meal was genuinely excellent. I ordered the smoked turkey wings, mac & cheese, yams, and collard greens mixed with cabbage. I have often been disappointed by other soul food spots in Philadelphia that seem to skimp on quality ingredients, particularly in their mac & cheese, but this restaurant was a delightful surprise. The mac & cheese deserves special mention. Making great mac & cheese requires a commitment to quality cheeses, and unfortunately, many restaurants cut corners by using insufficient cheese or cheaper substitutes like Velveeta, which just lacks flavor. Greedy Soul Food, however, deliver flavorful and cheesy mac&chesse. You could distinctly taste a sharp cheese, the texture was perfect, and it was seasoned to absolute perfection. The rest of the meal was equally fantastic: the turkey wings were cooked perfectly with great smoky flavor, and both the greens and the yams were a 10 out of 10. The service was also wonderfulâthe young lady who took my order both over the phone and in person had a great, lively, and bubbly personality. The only negative feedback I have is regarding the ambiance; the dining area felt quite stale and very uninviting. I would never dine-in based on this reason. Overall, I rate this place highly. If you are simply getting takeout, this is one of the best soul food experiences I have had in a long time. As a Philadelphia native who cooks well, I know good soul food, and this...
Read moreI got the Lemon Pepper wings platter with mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, and a small side of green beans. The service was nice and the atmosphere was good. It was nice and clean inside and they were welcoming.
It was about a 25-30min wait for my food which is okay⌠When I tasted the mac and cheese I was heavily disappointed. I feel like in a dish like this the mac and cheese makes the dish. It was extremely cheesy, had no crust, and had WAYY too much black pepper in it with some hints of turmeric and maybe some type of fish fry/Cajun season. It was really overwhelming and disappointing. Barley ate it. Im putting emphasis on how peppery the mac was cause it really was. The peppery flavor made it hard to eat.
The sweet potatoes were okay. They were decent and I would say they werent too sweet. Good amount of sauce
My Lemon pepper wings were EXTREMELY salty. I could really only get through 2 wings and even that was alot. They had a nice crust and the crunch was good. They fell off the bone which was nice. It was just that they were overwhelmingly salty.
It came with rice under the wings which i wish they mentioned. The rice was good though. Nice subtle flavor. Not over seasoned like everything else.
The green beans were good. But almost too salty too.
The pricing for my meal was $27 and considering I didnt enjoy it as much as I hoped I would say thats REALLY pricy. But they do give a decent amount of food.
Still try the food for yourself and see...
