I’m LIVID at how terrible my experience was. I ordered a falafel platter, “Greek salad”, and side of hummus. With at least 2 pitas on the side. And to preface, I’m Middle Eastern and have eaten falafel and hummus and Mediterranean food as well ALL MY LIFE. So I know what to expect. 1) the platter was COLD. As if the falafel had been refrigerated all day and just placed in the container. As was the rice. (For context, I ordered food online but it arrived very quickly so food should have not had a chance to get so cold). It was accompanied by some sort of watery white substance that was supposed to be hummus. IT WAS NOT. As well as what was supposed to be tahini on the side, but it was more of like a mayo textured watery white sauce. 2) The “Greek salad” was NOT a Greek salad. It was advertised as such with the expectation of the ingredients of feta, tomato, onion, and olives. No olives were present. Instead just more pickles and lettuce in the “Greek salad”. PICKLES DON’T GO IN GREEK SALAD. And yet, it was the only bearable part of my meal. Also the dressing tasted like it was made with vegetable or canola oil and not olive oil. 3) my side of hummus was just as disappointing. Some oil filled to the top that did not at all taste like olive oil. Since I was VERY HUNGRY I decided to heat up my food. However I couldn’t come close to finishing it, and now I am feeling VERY nauseous. Here is to hoping I don’t get food poisoning. This place is GROSS! I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU ORDER HERE!

Fresh food for take out or dine in, grocery, fresh halal meat, clothes, and more. Open 24hrs. The store has a halal meat section at the back where you can find chicken, goat, lamb, etc.; A small kitchen and restaurant section at the front where you will find fresh food for take out or dine in, and the price is reasonable. They also have freshly made bakhlavas there. The amount of food served varies depending on the person serving the food. And the rest of the first floor is for grocery. Upstairs has islamic clothes for men and women, prayer rugs, scarfs, and much more. They have a small dressing room and a small rest room upstairs. The staff is very friendly and evefyobe is welcome here.

Absolutely horrible!! My cousin and I saw a review from a food vlogger and decided to try this place out. We ordered chicken shawarma platters thinking that we would be receiving what we saw on Facebook or on their website. Instead we were rushed probably due to a huge language barrier. The woman kept asking what we wanted on the platters and we were under the assumption that they came with rice and salad as we saw. Instead we got platters of smelly inedible food, some mushy cabbage, okra and chicken over rice with no sauce. Needless to say we were very, very disappointed and all of that nasty slimy food went straight into the trash. I will never ever visit this establishment again.

I really love makkah mart. Honestly this is a west philly gem that I would recommend to everyone. I decided to leave a review after reading some other not so favorable reviews for this spot. This place has an incredible selection of arabic and north african foods, groceries and snacks. I come here mostly for their ready made hot foods. You get what you pay for and honestly, the food is delicious. Of course it isn't restaurant quality food, but the fact that it is open so late and is quite cheap for the amount of food you get, it is well worth a visit in my opinion. The food varies from week to week, and you also have to keep in mind what time of day you go. It is also a spot that some locals like to hang out and congregate at but like I said, it is a west philly gem and a local favorite. I would...
