We have patronized Southern Flames on a few occasions and have enjoyed the food. The food is always seasoned and flavorful with ample portions for the price.
Recently, we ordered takeout for a family dinner. Since we’ve ordered before, we thought it best to call to confirm the whole wings were available before placing an order. We called and confirmed availability. We placed an order over the phone. A few minutes later we received a call noting wings we just ordered was not available. They offered, and we accepted, an alternative dish. We went to pick up the food at which point we were told that yet another protein and a vegetable was not available. They said they could prepare some, but that it would take an hour fifteen minutes. It was pretty disappointing, especially since we had just spoken and confirmed the food we ordered was available. Not a great experience - but how Southern Flames handled the issue is why we will continue to support. Though we had a long wait, they made sure to throw in a lot of extra food on the house to make up for the earlier snafu. They also delivered the food to our waiting car (which given all they gave us was quite a bit). They didn’t have to make an effort to make it right, but they did. Sometimes the best time to judge a place is by how they handle missteps and we were pleasantly surprised by how well southern flames handled this one. Our food was fantastic as usual and we look forward...

Read moreSouthern Flames catered a surprise birthday luncheon for me that was held on 8/8 at work for party of 12. It was an unfortunate disappointment. For the record, I have tried to call to discuss with them but no one answers the phone during peak hours of operation so my review will have to suffice for the discussion missed. The chicken and cornbread was burnt, the potato salad was watery. There was no sauce for the chicken provided, no catering setup or sternos as requested in order. When you are charged for delivery and setup, you should receive it and this is the second time that the order has been dropped at the front door. Attendees all felt that we were delivered old food and despite their efforts, it left me embarrassed as I was the was the one who introduced this vendor to Temple as a new caterer in 2022 and raved about their prior service within the college. At that time, my order was handled from start to finish by Manager Raylea. Unfortunately, I am told she is no longer there and perhaps this is why things have gone awry. I'm not sure, but I'm certainly not pleased with how they showed up here. I would love to remedy this with Southern Flames, because at this point, there will not be a third...
