SSSS Steakhouse — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Nice clean restaurant. Staff are friendly. We ate lunch here and purchased three different things. We were each disappointed with our food. To be clear here, the pricing is a few dollars more than most places are locally for lunch per person. You also don’t get refillable fountain drinks-so keep that in mind.

My husband got the lunch plate special and the sides were the disappointment. He had the hamburger steak which came with mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and white rice with gravy. The mashed potatoes were very bland. The gravy was flavorless, the rice was partially cooked, and also bland, the green bean casserole was inedible.

I had a Mushroom Swiss burger and it was just OK. I thought the onion rings were good. Our nephew had the honey barbecue wings. He said it was the worst he had ever ordered in a restaurant- mainly because the sauce was overwhelming and the honey barbecue sauce flavor wasn’t really good. Wings were not tender and pretty stringy.

We probably won’t come back just due to the price in exchange for the quality of food received.

I highly recommend that the cook start tasting the food to make sure it’s seasoned properly. There’s really nothing worse than getting mashed potatoes that haven’t been salted. sending out rice that’s partially cooked is also a big no-no.

We work construction outside in the heat and when we come in for lunch, we’re looking to drink several glasses of fluid to rehydrate. Paying by the drink just doesn’t make sense for us at lunch.

Overall, if these things were fixed, this would be an awesome local...

I hyped this place up to some friends. Today 5 of us went to thus place. They had lunch specials. Meat with 2 sides. At 12:30ish they told us they were out of 2 of the sides. 2 people ordered with different sides when they brought their food both sides were not there. When asked they were told oh we ran out of that side too. My friend and I got the hamburger steak lunch. I got a salad for one of my sides. Didn't have much of an option for 2nd side since they were out of most everything. They brought my hamburger steak out. It was just a patty on a plate with a little gravy on it, no roll, no onions. When asked the waitress said I can ask and see if I can get a roll. The other guest had a roll on his. Patties were burnt. The burntness was all you could taste. When I ask for the roll she said I'm doing the best I can. We were not the only group that didn't get sides either. Other people's orders were screwed up and give to others who came in after them. My friend wanted a steak. The waitress said it's best not to do that just have the lunch plate. I said you can order a steak if you like. She said you can if you want to wait an extremely long time cause that's how long it will take. I couldn't believe the service and food were this bad. But today was awful. I...

We are out-of-towners who decided to go out on a limb and try this place…and we could not have been happier that we did!! The service was fantastic, everyone was so nice and tentative to your needs! The food came out promptly and was warm and fresh-the steak cooked to perfection and was so tender that it could be pulled apart with a fork! It was so tender and flavorful! The bread and strawberry butter was a staple!! The mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese were not “basic” in any way-they were both phenomenal! Everything was perfect, and we will 100% be back, and might even bring friends and family next time! I would 12/10...
