I came here from Atlanta in June of 2023 and I must say If you’re looking for incredible plant-based food in Philly, The Nile Café is a must-visit. This long-standing gem in Germantown has been serving up delicious, soulful vegan dishes for years, proving that plant-based eating can be both nourishing and full of flavor.

The menu is packed with hearty, satisfying options, from rich curries and flavorful stir-fries to their famous BBQ tofu and mac & cheese. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared with fresh ingredients and a perfect balance of spices, making each bite both comforting and deeply satisfying. Their homemade juices and smoothies are the perfect refreshing complement to the meal, adding even more vitality to the experience.

Beyond the food, The Nile Café has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Whether you’re a longtime vegan or just looking to try something new, the staff is always friendly and happy to guide you through their offerings. The café has a STRONG community feel, which makes dining here even more special.

Philly has no shortage of great vegan spots, but The Nile Café stands out for its rich flavors, soulful dishes, and the love that goes into every meal. If you’re in the area, don’t miss this place! I think I stayed here for a few hours and I couldn’t stop spending my money! Kudos and I’ll...

Soooo, I just left here without eating. It was my first time here and I was super excited to come. The person who was “assisting” remained seated and engaged in her conversation. I asked for a menu and she pointed me to a white board, the size of a sheet of paper with letterings all over it. She had advised me to go on Facebook. I informed that I’m not on social media, and she stated, “yeah, neither am I”. The items on the website are not in the store. This is a soy-based establishment. Since I was the only person in the store, I would’ve assumed that she would’ve lended herself more. As a previous restaurant owner, there’s no way that I would’ve exemplified such lack of customer service. So far, I’ve visited Linda’s, Melani Cafe and my favorite All the way live. This will not discourage me from supporting Black-owned vegan places. I pray for the success...

This was my first visit to The Nile Cafe, vegan soul food on Germantown Avenue across from FUMCOG. The atmosphere is bright, clean, and sunny with lots of plants and light colored wood tables. You order at the window and they bring you your food. My Jerk Drumsticks were excellent, along with brown rice and gravy. I appreciated their being served in cute round cardboard containers, rather than plastic. Also, all set to bring home half my lunch for dinner. Be sure to get a drink. The food is SPICY! Folks from Mt. Airy tend to go north to Chestnut Hill rather than south to Germantown - hence it took me a long time to check out Nile Cafe. I...

I got the regular sized BBQ chicken platter with sweet potato and an okra/corn/tomato vegetable mix. Platter tasted very good but my only thing is that the texture of the bbq chicken didn't disguise quite like chicken. Still good though! But my fav.... let's get into it...it was the patty🥰....It was so good that I don't know if it was their take on a chicken or beef patty! I practically swallowed the thing whole. If you didn't tell me I wouldn't have detected it was vegan. Taste, texture, everything about the patty was on point! Will definitely get the patty again...like 5 of dem... and I try a new platter!
