Excellent presentation and tour, featuring real shackles and artifacts of slavery, art, and an authentic Ku Klux Klan robe. They do a great job of reminding us how the effects of slavery still reverberate throughout the culture of America today. No pictures allowed inside, but there's a lot to absorb and contemplate in the 3-room space. They will also visit community groups to do presentations! Parking is on the street or in a small lot off Church Ln.

This museum is a crucial experience. The owner, Gwen, strikes a perfect balance in her tour presentation - sharing remarkable historical detail and physical artifacts interwoven with personal details and stories. Gwen is friendly, thoughtful, and captivating and we are so thankful for her spending nearly 2 hours with us today. Very highly recommend this museum.

My wife, our two boys(14 & 10) and I, absolutely loved our experience. Thanks to Mrs. Gwen, we left with an amazing wealth of knowledge. In addition, our hearts were moved by the sobering truth that was unfolded. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND A VISIT!

The Lest We Forget Museum of Slavery in Philadelphia is a poignant and impactful institution that confronts the harrowing history of slavery and its enduring legacy. Situated at 5501 Germantown Ave, this museum is home to the Ragsdale collection, a profound assembly of slavery artifacts, documents, and Jim Crow memorabilia. Visitors are invited to bear witness to the tangible remnants of human bondage—shackles, chains, whips, branding irons—and to reflect on the dehumanizing conditions that enslaved Africans endured. The museum also explores the Jim Crow era, displaying objects that perpetuated racial stereotypes and discrimination. Through its exhibits, the Lest We Forget Museum educates and reminds us of the struggles and resilience of African Americans, ensuring that the lessons of history are not forgotten. It’s a vital space for understanding the past and inspiring a more...

Kids and I were blown away by our visit. Small, intimate experience with personal tour by exec owner. This is Philadelphia's only slavery museum and perfect place to see artifacts and documentation highlighting so many facets of the Black experience leading from Africa to present day America. Tour drives home the message that 200+ years of legal slave trade, followed by decades of US slave breeding and nearly a century of Jim Crow, created myriad problems that we are clearly still needing to work together as US country and within Black communities to address. Museum exposes many horrors but also highlights the strength and innovative spirit of the Black community. Everyone should visit this museum, and probably more than once!! My kids and I cherished every minute of the...

If you went to school in the American public school system visiting this museum is a must! There are so many things I was never taught and as time progresses speaking of America's origins becomes more and more taboo. This political correctness is washing away our history. By 'our' I mean American. Slavery tells you more about those who created it than those enslaved. This museum has a great collection of items you won't see anywhere else but the best part of the museum is the guide. Gwen did an amazing job of telling the history of the artifacts and made a few points I will never forget! This museum is a gem. If you happen to have visited the African American Museum you can make up for that mistake by visiting here. Lest we forget will leave a lasting...
