I want readers to take this review with a grain of salt because Wawa is undoubtably one of the best places to get Sandwiches in Fishtown. The next time you are in the Fishtown area I definitely recommend giving it a try.
Now, this review is specifically about Wawa's pulled pork sandwich. I am from Memphis so my expectations about barbecue tend to be unrealistically high but I still expect a little more from my favorite cafe. First of all, the rolls they used had been sitting around for at least a few hours. It was almost like they do their baking off premises. I'm pretty sure the barbecue sauce was homemade and it was pretty fabulous (so no complaints in this area). I tasted hints of brown sugar, cayenne pepper, and even honey with jut the right amount of smokiness (I do note that one of their more prominent chefs left recently so I am slightly worried that the sauces may suffer but we will have to wait and see).
My main problem comes with the pork itself. I assume they use the standard slow cooker method to roast the pork but I am 99% sure they switched butchers. I believe they had been purchasing their pork from the local Halteman's meats, which is great. But I recently noticed a wawa employer loading prepackaged meats out of an unmarked truck. NOT a good sign. The new pork really tastes much less natural. I really hope Wawa switches back to purchasing exclusively from local, quality distributors or I am afraid their business may...
Read moreI've been frequenting 2535 Aramingo Wawa for the past 2 months. The food and drinks are great. I especially love all the flavor refreshers with the fun popping bubbles. I like that security is tight, she tries to keep the solicitation down to a minimum at the doors and pumps. The bathroom is surprisingly clean. But what brought me here today is one staff member in particular. Although they're all nice one stood out to me yesterday & I missed seeing her today on my visit. I believe her name is Hannah (petite blonde woman). I think her name tag said she was the lead customer service associate which showed, but I'm not certain. She was phenomenal in the service she provided my brother and I. The lines were long & she stopped what she was doing and helped in, no questions asked. She was so nice and composed. She didn't get flustered by the amount of people either. She was so authentically her in dealing with every person. She noticed we had 2 hash browns & she mentioned a great deal (big 5 deal) to my brother & I despite the line. We gladly took her up on her offer. It really is a great deal Wawa thank you! We loved the French toast sausage sizzli that came with the deal & we wouldn't have enjoyed it if she didn't offer it. I'd like to take this time to reiterate and highlight a STAR✨ employee on their outstanding customer service especially under pressure. Kudos to you Wawa on having a great team! You really got a real one...
Read morePlaced an online order today. Went to go pick it up, they gave my smoothie away to another customer. I had to wait for them to make another. They gave me 2 orders of pineapple instead of the one order of watermelon I ordered. Then getting to the food counter, first the guard there was all over the counter, talking to the girl like there were no other customers. Customers actually left because of this. The guard, who works there, finally half heartedly apologizes before sauntering away, great, now I can get my stuff, right? No. Cause now the girl realizes she has a headache & spends 5 minutes rifling through her purse for medication, then another 5 sipping her drink. All 3 of my Gobblers were made incorrectly, and of course it would be the first order of the year too. Where tf is my cranberry? I'm not sure what's going on but this is mad disappointing and I think I'm really gonna call corporate too. What happened? This is NOT Wawa standard. I've been a customer my whole life, and even worked at Wawa, my cousin has been driving trucks for the company more than 20 years, this...
