This might be highly rated for Cave Creek but that’s not saying much in a small cowboy town. It’s no NYC and the standards are obviously much lower. I was on hold for over 6 minutes so I finally hung up. I was impressed that they called me back. It started off so encouraging but went downhill. First of all they do NOT have fresh lemonade as it states on their menu. They use syrup for the strawberry and passion fruit which was gross and I was perturbed I got duped. They don’t have packaged utensils and the owner touched the plastic utensils with his up washed hands during a pandemic. Gross. Fortunately I had my own. They were very disorganized when I picked up my order and I had to ask for some things to ensure they were included, they weren’t. Too many people rushing around like ants but none seemed to know what was going on. Their restaurant is very small and had a lot of diners which at the time was a no-no as they didn’t limit capacity which they were supposed to do. Now onto the food. The shrimp was undercooked. What a waste. Raw uncooked shrimp isn’t okay. I paid for grilled shrimp but got something I couldn’t eat. The bun was lacking flavor, didn’t come with enough sauce and what was included seemed watered down. Very disappointing. The Pho broth was very flavorful but it was loaded with ingredients that overwhelmed the base and ruined it, and they also didn’t include enough of it so it was less of a soup and more of a broccoli (odd choice) with a small amount of broth. Won’t return nor recommend.

Pho Tai (rare beef) review... 1) Portion/Price 4/5 - $12.95 is an acceptable price, and the portion size was in relation to the price. Hooked spoons given yay! Could probably have poured a bit more Broth in but it was adequate. 2) Onions 4/5 - healthy amount of green onions. Didn't notice a lot of white onions. 3) Meat 4/5 - acceptable amount of meat and it was not chewy it was very edible. 4) Noodles 5/5 - proper amount of noodles with proper size 5) Broth 4/5 - Not elite level Pho Broth, but good enough to not be considered average or below. Would like to see them go a bit heavier on the aromatics. Overall score 21/25. Very Good Bowl of Pho... but not to be claimed elite level which is reserved for scores of 23 or higher. 2nd dish I had was the 3 regions combo... which included salad, rice, chicken, pork and shrimp. Shrimp and chicken were very tasty and cooked to perfection. The pork skewer failed though in my opinion. I would have preferred if the place offered a bone in pork chop dish but didn't see it on menu. In addition I would have preferred the Salad to be substituted for tomato and pickled veggies as I had to pour fish sauce on the shredded lettuce to make it edible. Overall dish score 3/5

I wanted to like this place really bad. I really did. I love Vietnamese food and it’s cool the kind of cuisine they offer from north and south. However I had a near death experience with the worst possible service. The very first thing I told my server is that I have a severe peanut allergy. The kind you can die from. I asked to double check that none of my food would eventouch the same stuff as peanuts. I ordered bun Bo hue and in my very first bite there was an odd crunch, a weird flavor and immediate panic. I just bite into a peanut. My through got itchy, and I immediately stopped eating. My server never came to check on us, they refused to offer to take this off or remake it for me and By the time another server finally came over, I had ti get a pho to go because the other people had finished the entire meal. The owner or manager said “we don’t take things off the bill” even when they mess up and tried to kill me. I had to argue which was uncalled for.

I have been a patron of this restraunt for almost 4 years. They’re just down the street and they’re my go to for when I have friends or family in town because I’m obsessed with their crispy tofu and mango sticky rice. After four years of picking up to go orders from this place (probably once a month) I don’t think I’ll ever go back, which is a shame because I love the food. I placed a to go order for my boyfriend to pick up on his way to an appointment. Part of his meal was missing and when he called they refused to refund him as the missing part of his item wasn’t (according to them) expensive enough to warrant refunding his item. When did it become customary to pay for food you never received? When I went in to talk to the restraunt since I placed the order they agreed to a partial cash refund for the missing item. If it had stopped there I probably would have continued to go to this restaurant… however it didn’t stop there. The owner of the place told me that she thinks my boyfriend’s broke and made up the missing item because he couldn’t afford the meal. The guy behind the counter tried to hush her knowing how outrageously inappropriate a comment like that to a customer is and she snapped at her employee that it’s her place and she can speak how she wants. Too bad too because the food is actually very good but after a comment like that I won’t be going there or bringing my friends/family...

Let me qualify up front that my wife is Vietnamese, and therefore, naturally critical. We had Spring rolls, pho, vermicelli and Bahn seo. The food quality in general was good, but not spectacular, which is to say it wasn't something we would drive an hour for in the future. If we were in the neighborhood it would serve, lacking any local competition. As for service, we weren't really sure which of the 4 people who came by was our server, and each of them was very different in their approach and helpfulness. We found that a little disconcerting. The breakdown:

Pho- good broth, but not something I am craving. Lots of noodles, which I didn't mind except that it soaked up too much of the broth. Not much meat, not even a whole meatball.

Spring rolls- smallish. The peanut sauce was the best I've had, though.

Banh seo- nice and crispy with good flavor. I would order it again, but they only provided 2 lettuce leaves.??? They did bring more on request.

Bun (vermicelli)- Again, rather skimpy on the meat, one particularly small egg roll. Standard quality otherwise.

Bottom line- decent, relatively authentic Vietnamese food, but nothing that blew us away. Considering that it was a long way from where we live, it is unlikely we would go...
