As a regular customer of Salad and Go, one of Angie's concepts, I was eager to try Prime Grill after spotting it on Thunderbird. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly faded.
After reading about Prime Grill's burger offerings, I made a U-turn and drove to the location. My initial concern arose upon seeing the building up close—it was in a state of disrepair. Frankly, it looked worse than some of the less reputable fast-food joints I've seen. The exterior was dirty, and the property appeared run-down, desperately in need of a power wash.
Despite these issues, I decided to give it a chance. I drove up to the drive-thru, which seemed oddly designed. The menu didn't feature the burgers I was eager to try, and I was informed that this location doesn't sell them; I'd need to go to Central Phoenix for those. Instead, I saw mostly seafood options, which I'm allergic to. Finally, I ordered a Grilled Burrito with Steak and Spicy Honey Mustard and a "house-made" lemonade.
The ordering process was bizarre. I was instructed to swipe my card on a reader mounted on a pole outside, which seemed like a security risk. Despite my reservations, I used it and proceeded to the pick-up window.
The window setup was peculiar and unclean. Forks, napkins, and other items were left outside in dirty dispensers. A hand appeared thru a tiny window and say my drink on a tiny ledge, there was no straw. Minutes later, the same hand appeared out the tiny window and handed me a foil wrapped burrito without a bag. When I requested a bag, the staff seemed annoyed, and I finally received one with clear reluctance.
Regarding the food: The "house-made" lemonade was disappointing—essentially watered-down sugary water with little lemon flavor, served slightly warm. The grilled burrito was unexpectedly filled with rice, an ingredient not mentioned in the menu description.
Overall, the experience was far from satisfactory. The location’s cleanliness and setup were reminiscent of a dilapidated roadside food truck. The drink was subpar, and the food did not match its description.
I won't be returning to this location. It needs significant attention from corporate to address cleanliness and food...
Read moreUpdate:: I still love Angie's but definitely not this location- 43rd avenue and Thunderbird is an absolute no-go for me. This location is poor quality. I just got a breakfast burrito there for the first time. Since leaving the poor review below. I thought I'd try them again and it is absolute trash. The potatoes weren't even cooked. They were actually raw potatoes. Not to mention everything was piled on one side. Nothing was labeled in the ingredients. Were not good.
The bowl wasn't even half full.. A Year of Disappointment Culminating in Absolute Theft
For over a year, my family has been loyal customers of Angie's Prime Grill, consistently ordering 5-7 bowls 1 night a week, spending upwards of $100-$120 per visit. Despite the initial convenience, the quality and accuracy of our orders have steadily declined, reaching an unacceptable low today.
Our frequent experiences include: Missing Items: Consistently having to meticulously check orders for missing ingredients or proteins. False Promises of Extras: Repeatedly paying extra for avocado and chicken, only to receive negligible or nonexistent additions.
The Final Straw: Today's steak bowl was an absolute insult. We paid extra for steak and received a mere five minuscule slices.
This level of stinginess is beyond comprehension. Compounding the problem is the lack of customer service. Due to our distance from the restaurant and the time constraints of our children's sports schedules, returning for corrections is not feasible. Furthermore, Angie's Prime Grill lacks a phone number for complaints or order adjustments, leaving us feeling completely unheard and disregarded. To consistently spend $100-$120 weekly and receive such abysmal service and blatant disregard for our orders is infuriating. Today's experience, with the shockingly inadequate steak portion, has crossed the line. It feels like outright theft. We will no longer be patronizing Angie's Prime Grill, and I strongly advise others to reconsider before wasting their hard-earned money on such consistently disappointing and...
Read moreMy girl recommended this place thinking there was lobster here, but it was the other Angie's, so already we were annoyed, but looked otherwise appetizing.
I got a steak burrito, and she got a chicken burrito. There was literally almost no meat inside, and what there was was crammed into one end in the last 2 bites of the burrito. There was even less chicken in hers than there was steak in mine, and that "steak" was dubious at that. There was no tomato/pico or anything but rice, beans, onion, sliced avocado (NOT guacamole, they hate tomatoes apparently), no salsa, hot sauce, or anything.
The only saving grace was I had some chipotle tabasco of my own to add when getting home, but this was otherwise fairly miserable for a burrito. If I spend 10 dollars at a filibertos for a steak burrito, it would be 90% meat, this was like 5% meat and the rest rice filler. I can't believe they have no salsa, pico, or anything with these either. All this while it took 15 minutes to get our meal too, I'm not sure what they actually cooked, it certainly wasn't a steak or chicken for the 1-2oz of meat if that in each.
We'd mostly heard of this place for the lobster, but now I have to imagine the sandwiches are the size of my finger if the steak/chicken burritos are any indication. Neither my girl nor I would come back here, not sure I'd bother driving further for the Lobster one either now.
Just do yourself a favor and find a real Filibertos or Fedricos if you want a burrito with...
