Barbs Bakery — Restaurant in Phoenix

Barb's is the best place to get doughnuts in the entire Phoenix Area. I lived nearby years ago and would drop in every other Friday for breakfast treats for my teams. They're obviously made with sugar, love, and sheer, uncontrolled wild magicks from beyond the veil. When you chomp into the bearclaw - you are transported to a spiritual journey through a flavorful snack-land. Adventures to be had with your filled custard doughnut, treasures to be found with the chocolate cake doughnut. Whatever the choice: it is most certainly one ring that won't be returning to Mordor. (and unlike Mordor - one does, simply walk in).

The owners are as delightful and sweet as the treats that they bake - They always had a big hello for me when I'd come in. It's not only the baked confections that bring a smile to your face when you enter into the realm of Barb's. A warm feeling of joy fills your heart and soul as you leave your world behind for a few moments. Try the coffee, it's delicious.

If you're in the Phoenix Area (or visiting) this is a MUST VISIT for a breakfast Treat-yo-self.

I order a cake on 12/7/21 to pick up at 1pm on 12/10/21. I provided a picture of what I wanted. They did not seem to have a problem with the design or the short notice and I did ask if it was doable. I was charged $249 for the cake, a little pricey but did not care as long as the cake was perfect. I did have to wait about an hour on the day of because the cake was not ready on time. No big deal to me because all I cared about was perfection. When they first brought it out I was really unhappy with the results and had them correct it. Second time was a little better but nothing compared to the picture I sent in my opinion. I could not wait longer for them to redo it again and after seeing the lack of detail I was better off doing it myself so I took the cake as it was. Plus I did not want to argue, have it turn into something crazy and be left without a cake. As far as taste goes, overall moist but there was a few dry areas. Customer service was great though. That I did not have a problem with. I included pictures of what I wanted, what I received from them and the corrections my boyfriend and I made. Note, we have zero experience in cakes. *update.. within a hour of this review I had an email..interesting, though doesn't change my opinion. I called about ordering an Anniversary cake. Was told I could just come in and speak to someone. When I arrived, it was the complete opposite. The girl at the counter had me email them, with pictures of "my ideas" and proceeded to write down details. (Basically I could have done all of this by email from home)! She told me she would speak to the Baker and then get back to me about pricing and more details etc. This was a week ago and still have heard nothing!!!! The customer service at the counter was sub-par, I even ordered a few "treats" to take home and I must say the quality of the products were not as they have been in the past. (We've been going to Barb's since the opened over 40 yrs ago)!! Disappointed on many levels. Needless to say I have already contacted another local Baker to make the cake... at least she was responsive (same day) and apparently cares more about customers..... Won't be going...
