I hate writing negative reviews but it is time to do so with Heart and Soul. I am part of a Wednesday group that goes for breakfast each week around CC and Carefree. Heart and Soul has been part of the rotation. Virtually every time we go there has been a screw up with wrong pricing, wrong food or out of certain items, forgot to place an order, etc. Five guys with only four meals delivered. Always an issue here. This morning was the final straw. Got there right at 8 am and no one was seen inside and doors locked. Finally noticed a small sign that said go in the bar entrance. No one else in the place. Sat in the red car booth. Floors were dirty from the day before. place settings thrown around on the tables and the place just did not look like it was ready to open for the day. Young man comes out to take our order and proceeds to tell us all the items we cannot have because they were out after we ordered. Waited close to 30 minutes to finally get the food and for the second time they did not make my order. Said it would take just a few minutes and one of our guys was already finished when mine finally came. Had to substitute blueberry pancakes for buckwheat because they were out. Took a bite and it tasted burnt. The whole bottom of the pancake was burnt. How did the cook think he was going to hide that? Pointed it out to the waiter who proceeded to tell us all the problems the restaurant was having and that is why no one else came to eat and they had a lot of staff turnover. I thought he was going to comp me or reduce the bill significantly but he charged $18 for a $15 meal and then gave me 20% off which basically brought it down to normal price. I pointed it out and he came back with the same $18 price and then discounted to $14. So meal came late, burnt pancake and I get a dollar off. Still tipped the waiter since the lateness and burnt pancake were not his fault. I wish I could say "three times you're out" but we gave them far more chances than that. The group decided to take Heart and Soul off our rotation...
Read moreI've been a resident of this area and a business owner for many years and I'm proud to say that not only does this restaurant stay current with the times in terms of how they run their business but they have managed to retain the originality and down -to -earth feeling in their atmosphere that makes you feel like you're a part of a family and folks that's how it's done! Take a lesson (pretty much every other restaurant), it's not all about the dollar here and the prices are reasonable, and these guys really know how to cook! I'm telling you this is the best food I've had breakfast lunch or dinner anywhere!! My server was Ryanne. Hope I spelled it right đ. She's an amazing person and took the time to make me feel comfortable and treated me with the kind of service you only wish you could get everywhere else. Very professional with a story or joke here and there to bring it home. She actually enjoys her job! I would recommend this place over anything else I've seen in the valley. đ Everyone here is cheerful and efficient. Nice to see! Great job Heart and Soul!! one additional comment since I left this review is whoops,I think I'm beginning to see a trend where the service on the food side is being sacrificed for improving the bar portion of the restaurant. I personally don't like to be asked if I'm ready for a box when I'm halfway through my meal. And all the good help is being transferred to the bar and I always get the same guy. Nothing against him but I personally don't want a kid waiting on me for dinner. If I want that I'll go to Culver's. Just saying. Otherwise still an ok...
Read morea nice down to earth bar and restraunt nothing to fancy. Located in the strip mall in cave creek The food on a scale from 1 to 10 is a 15 the entertainment a 12 customer service not bad they were about 70% full so a little slow not bad though and real good people skills smiled were polite helpful and the place though pretty just kick back and comfortable was clean. One bathroom for all but kept up and tidy wasn't afraid of touching anything very nice . Oh did I tell you the food was like eating out at the town picnic country food like grandma cooked on thanksgiving at affordable prices between 2 beers a soda and two full plates we spent a total of a whopping $33 that included a $5 tip. You cold tell there were a lot of regulars and i could see why I found myself wishing i lived closer although it took only 25 min on a bike with a beautiful sunset to get there from New River. Phoenix is 20 min and id ride an extra 5 min in the rain to have dinner at Heart and Soul Cafe in Cave Creek right off the Carefree Hwy. Its worth a go see if your in the area Entertainment usually starts around 6pm starts early so you can get home at a decent hour and at 7pm on a wed evening the traffic wasn't bad and no traffic at all practically by 930. T was a perfect night. I am going to be a regular where o i sign up. Luv everything about it even jukebox had exceptional choices of music. Your missing out if you don't pay...
