Went in at 8pm (1 hr before closing) on a Sat night and the 2 girls at the counter were already talking about how they were upset that they won't be able to get out by 8:50 (they close at 9pm) because customers keep coming in & they wanted to go out & they still have to go home and shower yet. I ordered a burrito with red sauce. It came without sauce. When I pointed out the mistake, they took the burrito while I waited at the counter for at least 5 minutes. When she returned with the plate, she said " sorry it took so long they were microwaving it" . Why they were microwaving it for 5 minutes, I have no idea. So now the burrito had been in the microwave for the past 5 minutes, apparently without any sauce on it -which I watched her put on 2 seconds before she handled me back my paper plate/dish. The red sauce was almost like spaghetti sauce and semi warm and gross. It probably had that texture and taste because it wasn't cooked or baked into my burrito, but rather scooped on as she was handing me back my plate. It was so disgusting I just scraped it all off. The carne asada inside the burrito was all chewy and grizzly and inedible. (Probably because it had just been in the microwave for the past 5 minutes after it had already been cooked on a grill.). The whole thing was disgusting. And the icing on the cake was how they were already putting up chairs and mopping when the place was still full of customers because they were trying to get out by 8:50pm. One girl was also sweeping the rug by the doorway and all the dirt and debris was flying directly where I was sitting (at a table closest to the rug). I had to stop eating and cover my food to prevent the debris from flying on my food. When she got done sweeping, she stopped & looked at me and then rolled up the rug and put it on top of a ledge and walked away. I will never go back to this place again. The food was so gross and this was just a really an awful food AND customer service experience from start to finish. I would have asked them to remake my food, but after the experience I just had, I certainly didn't trust them with making a new...
Read moreUM HELLO. Where have I been all this time?!! Tacos here were great! Had lunch here during the week (12pm) and the parking lot was crazy full. I wasn't sure if everyone was at this place or somewhere else.
We ventured in and we quickly realized that the full parking situation was because everyone was in here getting some food! We got in line and started looking over the menu. The line was about 9 people long so we had time to look over it.
They have bowls, tortas, burritos, tacos, a three taco plate that comes with rice and beans, and I also saw that they the have menudo and posole, YUM.
I decided on four chicken tacos and my husband decided on the three chicken taco plate. The plate runs about $7 and each taco individual runs about $1.50. We each got our own drinks and those were, one soft drink and one agua fresca (Jamaica) We spent about $18.
This place was chaotic inside. Finding a table was a challenge as there were a ton of other customers looking for somewhere to sit as well. Luckily, we found one right when someone else was leaving so we sat down quickly.
We waited about 15 minutes for our food and they called it out by number. Our food was nice and hot so we quickly dug in. My chicken tacos were delicious. They were already dressed when I got them (cilantro, onion, and a green salsa) and so if you don't want any of the toppings make sure to let them know.
My husbands beans were really dry so we didn't eat them. The rice was a little bit over cooked so it was a bit soggy. The flavor was good though so we ended up eating it all.
They don't have a salsa bar but I did see red and green salsa bottles on the front counter. The inside of the restaurant is nicely kept and they had several tvs on as well as music. It was very loud on this day as there were a ton of people dining in.
Don't come during lunch time if your in a hurry but do make it out to try the...
Read moreHonestly surprised by the 4+ star review. Tried this place because was trying to find decent Mexican food when I was in the area. Agree with another reviewer.. mediocre at best. I had the 3 street taco plate with 2 fish and 1 shrimp. They used tilapia (grilled, which I usually prefer) that just honestly didn't taste that great. I understand places often use tilapia because its a cheap fish but it really needs to be cleaned well and prepared well to even taste okay. The shrimp was slightly better but still not impressed. Rice and beans was as typical as any other. Pico was not fresh looking as if made from a day or 2 before. Salsa was sitting in squeeze bottles, not chilled and on the counter. I am a salsa queen and was disturbed I had to eat my tacos with a squeeze tube salsa that other people use their grubby hands to pour it on their tacos! Gross! Place was not the cleanest which I get, its a small establishment and such but this can still be maintained. I love Mexican food and eat it all over the valley because I drive a lot and in comparison to others, I have to say that my 3 star rating is being very generous. As far as mom and pop shop/ comparable price options that are way better and I can say is absolutely a 4 star rating or more would be of places like Moreno's in Chandler off AZ ave and Ray rd-ish or Taquitos Jalisco on Alma School and Broadway just to name a couple. Two small little restaurants/ hole-in-the-walls that, dispite their size and low prices, still offer fresh/quality foods with an appreciation to serve their customers... I just had to write out my two cents since I chose this place off of reviews that I felt were not congruent with...
