Mariscos Playa Hermosa — Restaurant in Phoenix

This place is kinda small, tables kinda close together , but not horrible, the Mexican decor and tables are super nice and colorful. They have an outside patio but it was raining this day so we didn't get to sit outside. They have music playing and a big screen tv, didn't look around enough to see if there was more. They have a bar towards the back.The service was superb from the time we sat down. We arrived after lunch hours 2pm or so, we were a party of two so we were seated right away. Our waitress was Frida and she was super sweet and very helpful with menu recommendations. Fyi menus will have to be viewed on your phone, they have a bar code you can Scan to bring it up. Be prepared, the menu is huge!! That's not a bad thing, but it makes it so hard to decide because everything sounds so good, especially when you're hungry!! While we were looking through the menu our waitress brought us chips and salsa, omg the salsas (red & green ) were both delicious, definitely homemade. The red was my favorite because it was a little spicy, which I really enjoyed. My husband ordered the campechana cóctel, it was big enough to share and was fresh and had big shripms hanging on the side of the cup and inside were a variety of seafood, so, so good!! We couldn't decide what else to order, we asked our waitress Frida and she suggested the Camarones Locos, we went ahead and ordered them, we waited a little, but they came out in a decent amount of time, they were nice and hot 🔥 and crispy, on a big round platter Over a bed of lettuce Let me tell you they were amazing!! They have spicy sauce on the outside, be ready to get your hands a little (or a lot dirty) you have to peel the full shrimp, head n all lol but it makes it fun and ( finger licking good) they come with two salsas to dip your shrimps in and both sauces were excellent!! I definitely recommend this to share with someone Or a few people. while eating them, I decided these Camarones would taste good with a side of French fries, so of course i ordered them,once they got to the table they were steaming hot and super crispy, just the way I like them! wow, those were some good fries! if you're a fry lover, order a side of them, they won't disappoint but will disappear quickly. Lastly we ordered 1 fish battered taco and 1 shrimp one, honestly those were just ok, lacked a little flavor to them. They weren't horrible but I probably wouldn't order those again but that doesn't break the deal for me at all. Oh and I forgot to mention that while we patiently waiting for our Camarones locos, our waitress kindly gave us each a fish ceviche tostada to try (complimentary) very sweet of her and that was also delicious as well. We were so glad we found this little gem, especiallysince we love Mariscosand it'shard to find a good spot. We came up from Tucson, and this was definitely worth it 👌 🙌 I am a foodie and love to try new places and try to give my most honest reviews. It was also my birthday weekend and top top it all off once again our waitress came through and brought us a complimentary flan and again that was super yummy 😋 wow! Everything was amazing from the food to the service. We will definitely be back again! You'all have to try this place if you love some good Mexican seafood/Mariscos. You won't be disappointed. It started to get a little packed as we were leaving 👍 I suggest you get there early because I'm sure there is big wait times during lunch and dinner hours. Better yet, look at their menu ahead of time if you are like me and have a hard time deciding what you want because everything sounds so good. Other plates that were coming out to other tables all looked so good to. Give it a try!! Thanks Frida & staff, we will definitely be back again...

Bottom Line Up Front: Great restaurant to enjoy fresh Seafood and other assorted Mexican dishes! In my opinion this is the best restaurant to enjoy fresh affordable seafood in the State of Arizona! Oyster's in the half shell prepared were awesome 👍🏽 👍🏽 👍🏽 👍🏽 👍🏽 Customer Service: Excellent! Very respectful, courteous and kind. My wife and I found the service very refreshing and genuine. Great team effort, from the young man who took the order, to the young lady who checked on us periodically. And I can't neglect to mention the cook, who prepared and delivered great dishes. Family Friendly: Excellent! Great food for children. Atmosphere: Excellent! The entire staff was very polite and professional. Climate was warm and friendly. Menu: Excellent! Restaurant provides a QR code on your table and if staff will provide a paper menu if needed. Just ask or look at the tv screen with different dishes being rotated and point😁 Cost: Excellent! Food chains like Red Lobster or Angry Crabs food doesn't compare and neither does the price. Food: Excellent! Freshly prepared and well presented dishes, arranged with beautiful edible colors. Every dish was professionally prepared with class and pride. The white rice was delicious! Wait time: Excellent! No issues when you open the restaurant. I'm sure the evenings and weekends there's a wait. Call first to find out. Parking: Excellent! No issues since we arrived when it opened, but I'm sure the evenings and weekends are packed, so get there early! Handicap Accessible: Excellent! Restrooms, dining room and outside area will accommodate. Beverages: Excellent! Wide variety of excellent drinks for all. Mariachi's: Excellent! Available on Wednesdays, when not on vacation! Seating: Excellent! Comfortable and spacious seating available. Military Friendly: Excellent! I didn't inquire about a military discount, but I'm sure you'll find it's worth what they charge.

Recommendations: Highly recommend Mariscos Playa Hermosa. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is refreshing! We'll be returning on a monthly basis 💯

Rude owner, Lee!! I am so incredibly upset with this place. This was one of my favorite spots. Would have business meetings and would come with family and friends. I will never come again! Came here for lunch and had my toddler with me. I was driving my big truck because I was getting ready for a community event this weekend. When we got there, I chose to park on the far East end because there were 3 spots open and did not want to risk hitting any other cars. There were other parking spots open but this was the best option for what I was driving. There were 2 small buckets near the parking block and we moved a bit to avoid hitting them. Then Lee comes out pissed and yelling at my friend who moved the buckets. Then I hear her say, “Why are you yelling at me?” I see him arguing with an angry look on his face and I get out of the truck to ask him why he was yelling and acting so rude. He stated “Why are you parking here?!!! There is a lot of parking!!” I said…”Do you see this truck? it was the biggest space for this it and wanted to be furthest away from the other vehicles. He continued to yell and say why did you move the buckets?” Literally moved about 1 ft. Then he says, “I tried to be nice!” I’m like, “REALLY? You could have asked us nicely to move to another area. However you chose to be rude and yell” I asked him for his name and proceeded inside to complain. He followed me upset and I asked to speak to the manager. He then says…”I am the owner!!” I was like “WOW!!! I told him “Well just know you have lost my business, my family’s, my work peers, and friends and will be placing a review!”. He was like “Go ahead and leave a review” and of course we left. I really wish I would have recorded this incident. A man yelling at 2 women and a toddler in the presence. An upset man because we moved his small buckets to park. Makes me so angry because we came super excited to eat here! Never again supporting someone with crappy and inhumane...
