Living in Phoenix it can be difficult finding a Black owned business that 'knows business' and is professional. Even still, we wanted to support a restaurant and reserve what we could, to host loved ones for my Grandmother's 80th birthday celebration. I did a Google search for restaurants in the area, and Ms. Martha's Caribbean Restaurant appeared. Unlike other establishments I contacted for information, Martha herself responded promptly via email and we quickly got to wok discussing what our need was. With each email and phone call, she responded fast. She initially requested that we come by to see her restaurant before making any decisions to be sure it was what we wanted, something no other establishment has done and we appreciate that. When we went to visit, we quickly could envision our event. She was extremely kind and accommodating and helped us with ideas. She even made us plates of food to try and THAT was one of the many things that sold us. Truth be told, we had never really explored Caribbean food before then and it all was delicious, my Grandmother was all in! Night of the party, she set up the tables and chairs with table linens, allowed us to come decorate some time before and we had assistance with the serving the hot food. They even went above and beyond and made a birthday sign for her. The staff was very kind, patient and of course the food was great. Thank you Ms. Martha and team for making this night one to remember. We will be coming back to...
Read moreWent here today for dinner and ordered their oxtail meal entree with two sides which were rice and peas and plaintains. Started with the plaintains and of course they were really damn good then I got to the main event which was the oxtails with rice and peas and the oxtail was so juicy and tender wished it never end and then I paired it the rice and peas and drizzled the brown sauce which made it good as hell but then after that took a few breaks and watched a game while digesting it which made it so much better. The atmosphere of the place is homey and for some reason the food reminds me of my time in the Philippines visiting there and its relaxed environment and vibe to top off my dinner I got a tingz grapefruit soda and chilled out watching the game and washing it down all in all the food was good as hell and the restaurant itself made it much better, the only thing I’ll say is that get here early or soon as possible because they run out during the...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining here after checking recommendations from Instagram. Let me tell you, IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! From the start, walked in the smell was amazing, the music inside, a mix of Trinidadian Soca, Reggae, and dancehall, made me feel like I was back in the West Indies visiting extended family. Mom n Daughter ran the show flawlessly. What I thought would be a quick birthday lunch (Sept 13th) turned into a few hours of family and food! The curry goat was amazing. The spices, the seasoning, everything was on point. I got to try the oxtail eggs rolls, and they were absolutely amazing. Even the simple things like a beef patty and cocoa bread, hiit the spot like I couldn't imagine here in arizona. If you are looking for a true caribbean cuisine experience that will have you wanting more and keep coming back. This is the place! I cannot wait to get back here again! Turn...
