I have very mixed feelings about my experience today. While waiting for my to-go order I learned that Niro’s has a new owner. The original owners retired. The new owner has added menu items and printed very professional photo boards of them. I ordered the double gyro plate and the chicken artichoke gyro. I asked if I could have the sauce on the side. My kids don’t like onions and tomatoes so I asked to omit those for the gyro plate. The cashier offered to sub a little extra meat in their place. The cook made no effort to hide how upset he was with special request. He argued with the cashier. They argued for several minutes. His attitude was completely unacceptable. I almost walked out. Later when I got home and opened my chicken gyro it was falling apart in a sea of sauce. The bread had turned to mush. The gyro meat was awesome. Some of the best I’ve ever had. I looked at the receipt to call, but the phone number on the receipt is incorrect. I had to look up the number on line. I also noticed the cashier had charged me $4 for the extra meat that “she” had offered to substitute for the vegetables. When I spoke with her she said they will replace my gyro when I return. So.... all that said. The food is great. but if you are like me and like sauce on the side or some other accommodation you should dine elsewhere. The cook is too bothered and isn’t professional enough to quietly work it out with the...
Read moreUpon entry, the owner were very accommodating and welcoming (nice).
The other staff member was on his phone, sitting on the counter top and wasn't professional or friendly (kinda jerk).
The level of cleanliness within the restaurant is excellent.
Some tables were off balanced, though.
First time being there, the food definitely did not taste like any Mediterranean food. More like a waste of money!
We only ordered French fries & Dolmas
The 🍟 (French fries) were definitely old and stale. They tasted like it was recooked and burnt.
The dolmas were definitely mushy and nasty that sat on garnish that wasn't necessary.
The soda's were also flat.
The Tzatziki sauce tasted like hidden valley ranch with plain yogurt.
Given our experience, this wouldn't be an option to dine at.
They just need to work on their cooking and the quality of foods being served.
-Please do not prepare cheaply made foods and charge someone full price because you want to save the extra few cents on each order.
Also, the Greek fries should not just be 🍟 french fries with only feta cheese on it. There is no olive oil or any sauce sticking the feta cheese to the 🍟 fries.
We basically ate French fries 🍟 with feta cheese on...
Read moreWe visited last night. I am pretty familiar with gyros and Greek food. However, my significant other grew up in a part of the country without Greek food, gyros, etc., so he was excited to try. He had questions about the menu...again it was his first time trying gyros and Greek cuisine. The man who rang us up was impatient answering my SO's questions, and the man in the back (the cook) just stood in the window staring at us in a very unwelcoming manner. Having lived in Chicago for 6 years, I noticed some familiar menu itrms and asked the cashier if they hailed from Chicago (just trying to make friendly conversation). The cashier nodded yes without looking at me. ) These people were Very unfriendly, unwelcoming to us as new customers. We live in the neighborhood and we order carryout a lot. However, that was the first and last $22 these people will ever get from us. All in all, the food was just so so - definitely not the quality of Greektown in Chicago. However, the unwelcoming atmosphere and attitude from the staff is why we will NEVER be back, and we will tell our friends, family, neighbors and coworkers to not spend...
