The place has a big open feel with common seating (seat yourself) and a bit industrial inside bc of the open ceiling. I went the first time during grand opening and it wasn't too bad on the noise level. I did not have to yell and the music which was tropical like could be heard.
The food was excellent. After many times now, it is always good quality. The meat is flavorful and moist. Even the fried chicken is moist. The rice is so good, even plain should you not want to add sauce. They have at least two flavors of sauce that I know of. The portions are usually the perfect amount to feed a hungry person at the end of a hard day at work. The dishes we get usually has a shredded salad which is okay. It is fresh and has eddename in it.
The staff is efficient and friendly. The manager stopped by our table to visit at the grand opening.
Only one time on a Friday night late, near closing was the only time I can find a fault. We got smaller portions than normal that one time only and ended up hungry after finishing. It has not happened since, but I recommend always ordering inside and checking your order before leaving. But, that goes with any place. I would say that one time the portions would have been fair for a senior menu if they had one. The food regardless of portion size has always been good quality.
I highly recommend this place. There is another Hawaiian up the road on 3rd Street but they are way, way below the delicious bar Ono has set. So stick with Ono on 7th Avenue and Bell, the...
Read moreI had high expectations for this place, I am from Hawaii.. for my first time order I Tried their chicken Katsu, The chicken was the most bland thing I’ve ever eaten, such a waste of money, so I went back for a refund, they had me wait in the regular order line to get my refund, and then they offered me a spam musubi for the inconvenience and I waited 5+ minutes for it and decided I wasn’t going to wait any longer than that, something small like that should not take that long, none of the employees even looked at me or acknowledged me while I was waiting, and the young lady who was the manager did not follow up and make sure that I got my spam musubi. I have zero intentions of returning to this establishment and doesn’t seem like the management cares at all either about the reviews being left here on Google, none of them have been replied for either the good or...
Read moreI suppose the quality of the food in this case wasn't the issue. The time it took for the food to come however WAS. I arrived at 8:24 (a reasonable time) placed my order (TO GO) and didn't get my food until 9:10 (46 MINUTES LATER). I had to go up and ask if maybe they forgot my order because they started giving orders to people THAT CAME IN AFTER ME. And its not like there was an under abundance of workers either. There were 5 workers and only 2-3 groups of people in the restaurant. After checking with the cooks I heard them say that they didn't even start making the only unique item I asked for. On top of it all when my food came out it was wrong. Was given veggies when I asked for rice. For 46 minutes I could've sat down at a restaurant, had appetizers, had my entree, and have been looking at the desert menu, but...
