Cute little donught spot in AWTKee. Customer service! Beyond outstanding. I would highly recommend Parlor Donuts, especially for their warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with kindness, and one of the staff even gave our little one a toy and it was so cute and thoughtful. It really made the whole experience feel special and home-like. The shop itself is clean, beautifully designed, has patio seating, and is conveniently located right next to Trader Joe’s in the plaza.
We tried both a vegan donut (strawberry shortcake) and a non-vegan donut. The non-vegan donut was outstanding delicious, flavorful, and everything you’d want in a donut. The vegan donut had a tasty frosting and was a good value at $3.65, but the texture was very crumbly and more like cake than a donut. They currently offer chocolate and vanilla bases with a few toppings for vegan donuts. There’s definitely room to grow in this area, and I’d encourage the team to taste-test and explore ways to improve the texture to make them just as enjoyable as the regular options. They also have gluten-free donuts, which we didn’t try this time.
If you’re reading this and specifically looking for vegan donuts, Nami (downtown) has some excellent options, but I also understand Parlor isn’t a fully vegan establishment. This is just my personal opinion and feedback as a vegan donut customer, and I share it with encouragement because I see so much opportunity here.
Overall, Parlor Donuts in Ahwatukee is a wonderful addition to the community. The customer service alone makes it worth visiting, and if you’re not vegan, you will absolutely love the donuts. For vegan donuts, there’s still opportunity to improve, but I truly appreciate that they offer them. Thank you, Parlor Donuts, for being such a welcoming spot in the neighborhood I highly recommend and look forward to...
Read moreMy first time here following their grand opening was Monday 5/6/24. It was not easy to order. I’d like to see what’s in the case, and fill my order of half-a-dozen. No, I had to pay first. Okay, a little odd; and not the normal order of how to buy donuts. My order was: Blueberry Hill; Cookies N’ Cream; French Toast; Churro; Honey Glazed; and Lemon Bar. I took my order to visit a friend, and sample these unique layered donuts. First, the dough is the same for all the donuts. Second, looking at them it was hard to remember which was which. Third, the difference is in the toppings and flavors — the Blueberry Hill had no blueberries. Some were very sweet, and some were pretty good. Lastly about this visit, they’re pricey doughnuts. $3.65 each. My total before tax was $21.90; with tax it was $23.76. For that price +dollar I could buy a dozen doughnuts at the Arizona Donut Company on Broadway in Tempe.
I returned the next day (5/7/24) for a doughnut, and to try their coffee — as they’re a franchise out of Evansville, IN that started serving coffee. I had the Blueberry Hill to try once more, and a cup of their House Roasted coffee. The Blueberry Hill uses a syrup flavor that’s very sweet, and is dusted with powdered sugar. It would be better if it had blueberries, and wasn’t so sweet. The texture of the dough was good. It’s not worth $3.65; and I’m not buying 12 to then pay $2.65/each. The coffee was okay; strong, but not bitter. It was $3 for a 12oz cup. I paid $7.23 after tax.
The store is clean, spacious, and offers a variety of seating — tables and chair, or sofa and leather seats. The service is good. They’re still new, and developing.
Give them a try, and experience for yourself the unique layered doughnuts, and coffee. I think they offer refills...
Read moreWe tried this place out for the first time today for a Father’s Day treat. We walked in and were pleased to see that there were no other customers there so it would probably be a quick trip. We placed our order (5 donuts). We stood there for over 20 mins waiting for our order and watched as they served donuts to multiple groups of people who came into the store well after us. I finally asked if we had missed them calling our name for the order. The girl just muttered to herself and then wandered into the back (where they assemble them) and then a few minutes later they finally brought our order out. Nobody even took responsibility for the mistake they made-let alone apologized for wasting almost a half hour of our day while my whole family of 5 including my toddler just stood around on Father’s Day because of their mistake. Who knows how long we would have ended up standing there if I hadn’t said anything. There were a ton of people working there and nobody was paying any attention. Needless to say-not the best first experience. We probably won’t return knowing how long we will have to wait for 5 whole donuts again. Customer service matters as well as your customers time. I hope you guys read this and can aim...
