This review, although long, is being left by a true Foodie, as most of you are that are reading it.
I've been able to eat pho in California, Hawaii, parts New England, New Mexico, Florida, Nevada and here in the great state of Arizona. This doesn't make me a guru of pho. It just means I really enjoy pho so my palate is obviously going to be different than most .
I've also been a server and wait on people for about 12 years, prior to my current career, so this review comes from many different standpoints and understanding of how customers should be treated when eating in you're establishment.
We were greeted by the owner, tall buff gentleman with glasses, and things started off well. This small family owned restaurant had a pleasant vibe at first full of people. Good smells and the clitter clack of the kitchen and utensils being used and the pleasant sound of slurping.
We ordered hot coffee, delicious. Grilled pork spring rolls which were delicious. Also ordered the fried spring rolls which were hot and scrumptious.
The pho, Jumbo Bowl, overall could have used the little bit more depth and oomph but was not bad, definitely not better than Da Vangs(or overall food quality)
The wife got a seafood noodle dish which for me lacked flavor, although the spice level was spot on.
So overall I would give the food experience a 3.3.
So that there's an understanding of my LONG review and rant, as stated above I waited tables and served people for quite a long time. So I have a thing about cleaning up my table no matter what restaurant I go to in any state.
Whether or not that be organizing my plates in one pile, putting all silverware and use napkins in a cup or on the plate and I even wipe down my own table most of the time, it's the server in me. And not one person at any restaurant has ever been offended that I did that.
So I was very disappointed when I went to help dump my plate and was reprimanded by the owner's daughter.
This wasn't the typical "Oh Thank you sir but you don't have to do that" type of pleasant attitude.
This was a reprimanding unnecessary and uncalled for, especially if a good tip is the end goal outside of paying your bill.
Overall, I'm not sure that I would ever go back or recommend this spot over a couple others here in the state like Da Vangs or even Saigon Pho and Seafood.
Pho 43 has a great following and people seem to like it so please try ( I guess I just recommended it ) and leave a review but also give one of the best pho's in town a try, Da...
Read moreThe wait was over thirty-minutes which was alright, just an indication that the food is probably pretty good. Eye ordered the vegetable pho with beef broth and everything separate. They brought out the tiniest, teeny, tiny bowl eye have ever seen of pho. Eye told the lady that eye didn't order this size, she said it was a small which eye knew that and then went on to say, it was because eye asked for everything separate. Eye have been all around the world eating pho and they never brought out a littler bowl because eye asked for everything separate. The vegetables consisted of red bell pepper, green bell pepper and celery, disgusting, those are very powerful tasting vegetables to be added to a bowl of pho, almost over powering! The vegetables that usually come with pho are bok choy, Napa cabbage, carrots, broccoli, onion. Attempted to order spring rolls and substitute the tofu for carrots and cucumbers, she told me that, "eye couldn't order it like that and that's why it's not on the menu in that format". Well, it's NEVER been on the menu at ANY place eye have ever ordered it from even the not so authentic restaurant Zona Pho, Pho Bowl, and Rice Paper just to name a few. However, since it's made in house, they specially make it like my request. She wasn't very accommodating, almost seemed slightly racist, everything eye asked for was NO! The lady with the glasses was very uninviting, impatient, mean and cruel! Eye was sent there from my company to see if we would be getting our lunch there to feed hundreds of people for our New Year party. The women wirh the glasses (attitude) was just as nasty as the state of the restaurant and restroom and the kitchens backdoor when it swung open. EYE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT...
Read moreIf you're a fan of Vietnamese cuisine and you're on the hunt for the best pho in town, look no further than Pho 43! This family-owned restaurant is a gem that you don't want to miss.
The star of the show at Pho 43 is undoubtedly their pho. Their broth is rich, flavorful, and aromatic, made with the freshest ingredients and simmered for hours to develop a depth of flavor that is simply divine. The noodles are perfectly cooked, and the meats are always tender and juicy. Whether you prefer beef or chicken, you won't be disappointed.
But pho isn't the only thing that Pho 43 excels at. Their rice dishes are also a must-try, especially the com tam (broken rice with grilled pork chop). The pork chop is perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection, and the broken rice adds a unique texture to the dish that is simply addictive.
For those who prefer something a bit lighter, the vermicelli dishes are also fantastic. The bun thit nuong (vermicelli noodles with grilled pork) is a personal favorite, with the grilled pork adding a smoky flavor that pairs perfectly with the fresh herbs and vegetables.
But what really sets Pho 43 apart is their staff. The majority of the staff is family, and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. They are always happy to recommend dishes or answer any questions you may have about the menu, and their friendly and warm demeanor is infectious.
Overall, Pho 43 is a must-visit for anyone who loves Vietnamese cuisine. The soups, rice dishes, and vermicelli dishes are all top-notch, and the staff is simply wonderful. If you're looking for an authentic Vietnamese dining experience, look no further than Pho 43! Let them know ya boy...
