Sonora Mexican Food — Restaurant in Phoenix

Although the staff was friendly I cannot lie about my review. My son & I ate there on 10-14-18 & were not content at all. We ordered the rolled chicken tacos plate & the chile verde plate. His tacos tasted horrible like days old & the sauce the chicken was cooked in didn't have a good flavor to it. My chile verde had nothing but pork fat & the sauce was bland. Even my soda tasted like carbonated water. The best thing we tasted were the chips...that should say a lot. The beans & rice were ok but everything else was a disappointment. I was surprised because I read the reviews & customers kept arriving so I thought the food would be great. I was a little angry to pay $25 for a meal neither of us were content with. Will not be...

I'm totally hooked on this place! The people are awesome, and let me tell you, their menudo is next-level good. And don't even get me started on the bread—it's toasted to perfection and buttered just right. Seriously, I'd tell anyone to check this spot out, I'd even go to crazy lengths to get there! Whenever my husband suggests we hit this joint, I'm ecstatic. Like, this morning, I couldn't contain my excitement—I was dancing when he pulled up, danced in line, danced when my food came out, danced while getting it ready, and of course, danced while chowing down. And you know what? They never let us down, no matter how many times we come through. After a meal here, I'm always left feeling so darn happy...

A few days ago, yes a few days ago, while working at this restaurant, I found and saw cockroaches, not just on the tables, when I approached the kitchen area I saw more cockroaches, the worst thing about all this was having agreed to have them pay part of the way with food, but here comes the best part, you can't trust them, especially the owner, she refused to pay for the work I did for the restaurant, when I showed her the paper invoices for the work, including the expenses and/or deposits, she, yes, the owner, refused and refused to pay the total. This establishment is not recommended at all...
