Regio's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Phoenix

Let’s get down to the “facts” of which I see them. 😉. Regio’s Mexican Food (Restaurant) serves exactly as its name states Mexican Food. If you follow me and taking the time to read my reviews in the past you already know.. No one gets 5 stars unless it is 💯 wheelchair accessible. I am that girl who walks to restroom to double check it’s ADA compliant. From parking lot…to width of the front door … the seating is all wheel chair friendly & accessible. The customer service I received was great. This was my first time here and Rosa was super friendly & helpful in explaining the menu & while giving good recommendations. I decided on Pozole, Tostada de Ceviche, & 2 small street tacos Chicharron (Pork Skin/Rind cooked in a spicy sauce) as well as carne Asada (Beef/Steak). What I love about Mexican Cuisine is diversity. Every restaurant brings different dishes from the region of which they represent.. I believe when you try a new restaurant, especially a Mexican one you should go in with an open mind not comparing it to every other restaurant you’ve gone to in the past.

The restaurant was very clean and the plates of which everything was served on were clean.

All my hot dishes came out Hot and held its temperature very well.

The tostadas de ceviche was mainly shrimp. I am girly who loves lots of citrus in her ceviche. This was a little light, however still delicious. It was absolute fresh! No fishy odor or taste. Definitely not spicy, but there is a salsa bar to add extra salsa & lemons. I personally wish they had Valentina but other than that… excellent dish.

The Pozole, was hot and had amazing flavor. The meat was cooked perfectly. Right balance or spice and flavor. One of the best pozoles I’ve had here in Phoenix. Most just taste like Menudo without the Menudo. I will definitely be reordering this again. Super delicious!

Now for my absolute favorite!!! This was the Chicharron taco!!! It was probably one of the best I have ever had. It was cooked perfectly!! In the wrong hands this dishes could turn bad quickly. Not here at Regio’s… I will be coming back just to get the full plate .. #16. Right amount of spice and the fresh homemade corn tortillas were beautiful and delicious.

It was late.. and I was hungry and google search recommendation did not do me wrong.

There is a reason this restaurant has been open for over 19yrs. You can feel the love in the food.

I ate here a long time ago and went in and got one taco and the owner assured me that I would be back because they were that good. I found it to be just OK and rather bland. I’ve been eating at a similar place down the road a bit for years and they are always consistent. I recently went in and ordered a burrito and got sour cream cheese and lettuce added the price was not horribly expensive, and the burrito was outstanding and it was gigantic and extremely filling and all three of the sauces that I got were great, now comes today a week later I ordered another burrito right after they opened. I guess that’s where I went wrong as it tasted disgusting I threw the whole thing away. What a complete waste of quite a bit of money as I had it delivered on Uber eats it was piping hot when it arrived at my house because I don’t live far but something was massively off. It’s the same meat they use in the tacos which I found to be just OK the first time the second time the burrito was fantastic. The third time it is rotten old meat. This was my first visit to this restaurant since I'm new to the area and not from this side of town. Im always excited when trying a new Mexican food restaurant cause it's one of my favs. I ordered a fish 🌮 seeing as it looked good on the menu. While waiting for my food I tried the hottest of there 3 hot sauces and was impressed. It had good flavor while still being hot like they said. My order was a to go order so I took it home and when I looked at it there wasn't anything special about it, actually it looked a little off. When I took my first bite it was nasty then the second bite was even worse. It looked like they took a can of tuna fish molded it into a strip of some sort then fried it.
