🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑 Some of the worst customer service in my entire life. I will never go back again. When you go out to eat, especially on a Friday night after a long work week, you want to be treated nicely. Our waitress, who surprisingly is also the manager, was rude and curt in taking our order. They also had us all sitting like a can of sardines on one side of the restaurant, when another nearby section was open. When I asked if we could move to another corner that was quiet so that I could hear my fried talk, she said they had already cleaned those tables and mopped that section of the floor. So they unnecessarily kept us sitting jam packed where we couldn't hear each other, instead of allowing us to enjoy a more quiet and relaxing dining atmosphere. Since they were going to have to wipe down whichever table we were sitting at anyway and it would take two seconds to sweep the floor if there were a couple of crumbs on it, was that more important than giving customers a pleasant experience? We could have been happy, but no she couldn't be bothered They also have never been able to accommodate another extremely simple request which is to add some garlic to our edamame. Then most of the staff never smiles and are very cold, so it's like you're in Thai version of Mean Girls. Meanwhile the food is mediocre at best. If you're in the service industry and you can't service your customers well, you need to get out of this business. Bottom line if you want good service and good food, go to the nearby Sai Ba Thai restaurant off of Thomas and 44th St, you'll be treated better and have much better food. Don't ruin your night or day out by coming here. Save...
Read moreWow. I’m literally just WOWed at the entire food. This is my first real authentic thai experience in the states after getting disappointed (for 7 years) at the same sriracha peanut butter sugary pad thai & pad see ew that has absolutely no difference in flavor regardless of what spice level you get.
I’ve got house special beef massaman curry with spice level 3 (hot) and it was hot, flavorful, delicious, beef literally melts in your mouth, both onions and potatoes were perfectly cooked (crispy onions and soft & slightly crunch potatoes). Peanuts were literally the round crunchy thai peanuts. Just top notch through and through.
Pad see ew - If you expect your typical pad see ew from doordash that taste 90% same as pad thai you will hate this. Because this one is real, authentic pad see ew that uses black soy sauce that is super dark and flavorful that may taste like it’s burnt. But me and my husband loved it - veggies were super crunchy (good cooked soft crunchy) and paired perfectly with soft, loose flat noodles that soaked up the sauce. OMG bean sprouts were the freshest I’ve seen - even fresher from what I get from grocery stores. It’s absurd how fresh their ingredients are. The quality is just top notch through and through and for the price it’s absurd. I wanted to move close to the area just because of this restaurant. I really hope they are around for decades.
Also their house made chili is the best - I hope they keep up all...
Read moreWe had a take out order of Thai rolls, pad see ew with tofu (medium), and pad Thai with chicken (medium). First of all - these were the smallest portions of Thai food we have ever seen from a restaurant before. Even though we picked up as they were still finishing up part of our order, by the time we got home (literally around the corner), the Thai rolls were cold. The pad see ew was VERY mild, no spice at all - and had very few noodles. The noodles they did have were just small pieces - it was like they had a huge batch of it and I got the very bottom remnants of it all. The tofu was extremely good and the flavor was pretty decent, but again had no spice despite ordering medium. The pad Thai we ordered medium on the other hand came out extremely spicy - my husband was completely unable to eat it and even I who really likes hot and spicy food found it to be way too spicy. And because it was so hot, we couldn’t taste anything about it to really tell if it should have been good or not. We have been frequenting Thai Recipe on 7th St and were excited for this place hoping it would give us a closer go to spot, but we were so disappointed. Two stars instead of one because the tofu was prepared really well and should the thai crispy rolls be hot, would be pretty good. Major downfalls are inconsistent spice levels (which truly makes or breaks a meal sometimes) and small...
