This brunch spot had a real hipster vibe with large garage doors and wide open areas but the problem with this conceptually is 2 fold. One, as a brunch spot they are open through the hottest part of the day and Two, it takes more to cool a larger open space as you lose a lot of insulation. Upon arriving they were blasting music so loud you could hear it in the parking lot and when we got inside it was like walking into a club that served breakfast, that was off putting but we had already driven 30min to get there and figured we'll deal with it . The place was packed and we were happy to get sat right away, so I didn't complain when we got sat right in front of the door and host stand. The location of this table was problematic in that I was blocked by the host stand from getting the air from the fan that was angled at that part of the restaurant and in 95 degree heat the fans were necessary. When the girl came to take our drink order I ordered coffee and my husband ordered iced tea, a few sips into the coffee I regretted it as it made me warmer in an already hot environment. The girl then came to take our order I was getting pretty warm but we were invested so we ordered. He ordered the portabella eggs benedict which had a pesto hollandaise although the basil wasn't noticeable and the poached egg came out hard boiled it was a small portion compared to the other items on the menu. I ordered the chicken biscuit which was a sandwich covered in white gravy. The gravy had to much pepper and was almost inedible, I gave up on trying to force it down half way through and opted to eat just the chicken. Although that had an odd flavor like maybe there was honey on it? I did get real bacon instead of the turkey bacon that was supposed to come with it and hash browns they were both excellent. Lets be honest though if I wasn't slowly melting into a puddle I'd have sent this plate back for several reasons. At that point though I just wanted to get through this experience so I could get to air conditioning. When I brought up that the gravy was inedible with the server she apologized and said she would let the cook know but didn't offer any compensation. Altogether this experience was pretty miserable. I have absolutely no interest in eating in and very little interest in getting take-out from this spot I wouldn't go...
Read moreEvery time I go back to Phoenix I am surprised and a bit overwhelmed by the amount of growth, especially in the central Phoenix area. There is always a new spot that has popped up that does it for me and that today was Brunch & Sip. I recommend getting there before 11 or checking in on the wait list online as it can be a wait. It is a medium sized spot with a good number of tables, but they fill up quickly especially because of their amazing drinks and food.
We were seated near the front door and the kitchen, so we had a great view of all the food coming out. Our waitress was nice, patient, and helpful as the margarita I first wanted they did not have an ingredient for, so I asked her to come back. She recommended the green goddess and after checking out the menu for a little while longer I went with it. The green goddess is a mix of cirqoc, melon liqueur, lime, kiwi puree, and topped with lemon berry soda. I liked that it was cool, refreshing, and had just a hint of sweetness. It creeps up on you though so sip it slow.
To eat I went with the huevos rancheros as they sounded amazing! The food does take a little while to come out, but it was cool because we sipped, chatted, and listened to the amazing DJ that was spinning. All this helped the time fly by and before I knew it my dish was out and pipping hot. Omg, these were some of the best huevos rancheros I've ever had. Tons of seasonings with a nice hint of heat and each bite. Everything was fresh and just kept me coming back for abother bite after bite. My friends loved their food as well especially the sweet and savory peach cobbler French toast and pancakes. We were all ready for naps after this, but somehow we managed to power through!
Everything was amazing! Only suggestion would be to add a couple of more bathrooms, if possible, as the lines are extremely long--like think way before you need to actually go and then get in line. Two stalls is just not enough...
Read moreMy family member and I are visiting from out of town and happened to see this restaurant online. We were seated and NEVER served , multiple waitresses saw us being seated and didn’t offer us water and never bothered to come over to the table to even take our order and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. We sat at the table for 10 minutes and there were multiple waitresses coming in and out of the patio area.
Not only that but other tables came in after us and were immediately served in the same section .
This happened at 9:15 AM on 8/27 on a SUNDAY morning ….
Not only was this incident offensive and incredibly disrespectful but even the host that sat us didn’t even bother to ask us why we left within 10 minutes of us being seated, she just looked at us smiled and held door open for someone else as we were trying to leave.
The waitresses were just huddled over near the bar area talking and that’s it …
Given this behavior of the staff it is my guess that business is so good that not everyone needs to be served and tips need not be worried about.
If you’re visiting from out of town cross this restaurant off your list and don’t waste your time, money and energy .
The only positive was that the gentleman at the valet showed a high level of customer service and the restaurant needs to hire him to train the staff on customer service .
—-UPDATE—-
We went down the street to Chelsea’s Kitchen and it is a NIGHT AND DAY difference !!!
