I have been to this location before and previous experiences were pretty great but the service this time I went was extremely poor. We were a group of six teens just trying to enjoy a nice night out and all was good until the food arrived. Natalie, our waiter, had gotten one order wrong handing over a sirloin taco salad to me when I had clearly stated we wanted a chicken one, we didnt think much of it and didnt want to cause a disturbance because of usual “teens are trouble” stereotypes. She said “are you sure you dont want the sirloin instead of the chicken?” In an uncourteous manner and after I said no thank you she went to fix it. But after that incident, Natalie began to ask if we needed anything else with rude and passive aggressive undertones whenever she checked up on us. After a short while and it almost being 11, Natalie comes up and notifies us that she would be leaving soon and rushed us to get the checks already despite us being there for a short amount of time, this was obviously with an intent to just collect the tips and leave but being understanding we of course complied because nobody wants to stay past their work hours of course. After that all goes well until we get the checks back after paying. My check was 38 dollars with change and I paid with 2 twenty dollar bills wanting the change back to put in 10 as a tip because I understand the immense stress and mental work food services are and we arent the “teens dont tip” type. But getting back the receipt I see Natalie had inputted my payment as being in the exact value that was due without even asking if i wanted the change back, this action is considered unethical and in some cases illegal as it is directly stealing clearly printed on a receipt. I did not want to create a whole commotion out of two dollars and change so i just kept it that way, added no additional tip and left. I understand it may be stressful and a lot to finally be done with your shift but to still have some stragglers, despite this, the way Natalie acted was not only unprofessional but unethical and unacceptable. I know this review and experience may be dismissed as I am just a teen but as a worker in a different department, I would know better than to act in such manners especially when those you are serving to are the ones that will tip you, it is also disappointing when us being teens turn out to be the bigger person in this situation as we were clearly able to observe Natalie talking about us to other colleagues and additionally slamming an item against a table. Besides the service provided, all else was good and all other experiences have been...
Read moreWe had an extremely disappointing experience at Zipps on Indian School Road on Jan 27th. We have been to this location countless times over the past six years and have had a few other times with less than stellar service but the staff and manager in those instances addressed the problems honestly and quickly. We are understanding of staff shortages, longer wait times for services, etc. This specific visit was a shixxshow from the start.
The specific problems included watching the majority of orders carried from the kitchen brought to the wrong tables. Nobody wants to watch their plate of food carried around an entire restaurant. For our specific table, our apps arrived and were mostly gone before our three requests for plates were delivered. That’s fine that they needed to wash plates but they could, have brought out the baskets with paper in the meantime. Had we not gone ahead and ate without plates the appetizers would have been cold. After a very long wait, and asking a few rimes about the order status for our food, two out of four of us received our food. My salad was missing several things, which fortunately were delivers quickly. We also had to wait for actual silverware.
Our server then came to verify the orders of the other two at our table. One person’s salad was brought but the fourth person’s focaccia arrived after we all had finished eating. Very little concern by our server about this and only after we declined rhto focaccia did the on-site “manager” come over. Jeremy is his name. When we voiced concerns and observances about the overall operation of the place it was clear chaos.
Jeremy offered a sorta apology but stated “ you want to blame all of this on me”? He also stated that he is a rotating manager or not the regular, as if that’s the reason for the chaos.
After Jeremy left the table, we literally were brought another table’s food order. Seriously. The only compensation for this 1.5 plus hour visit was not charging us for the delayed meal, not fen suggesting we take it free as a to-go item.
We then had to flag down to pay our bill and only two employees, not Jeremy nor our server, gave any type of genuine apology.
It will be a long time before we go...
Read moreUsually I love the workers here, but today we experienced a very rude waitress. It’s always the assumption that teenagers don’t tip and then they want to give bad service? Yet the thing is the bad service will get you very little tip. Natalie messed up an order on a group of 6. Which is fine because everyone makes mistakes, she came back and gave attitude asking if what we got was okay or if we wanted what we originally asked for then took it and walked away. This was after we had told a different person our order was wrong. Then as soon as that happened she made it everyone’s problem. If you make a mistake then that’s fine but if you take it personal and don’t own up to it then that’s your problem. So then we get almost little to not service and any comments she made were very condescending. We kept seeing her talking about our table as we were having a conversation about the attitude and poor service we were being given. Snarky faces and little to no appearance at our table. Then rushes us out because she was about to leave, now originally we were going to tip good because she started off really strong but as we kept going on the service kept getting worse. After she gave us our checks, we decided maybe to at least give her 5$ each until she took one of the checks that was cash ($40) on a 37$ meal and kept the change. Keep in mind the tipping is after. We were planning on tipping more but kept receiving the worst attitude from her. If you cannot own up to your mistakes and be polite about it then what’s the point of being a server if you’re just going to make it everyone’s problem. Would’ve said something to the manager but I’m not typically the type of person to write reviews because my experience is usually good. It’s so annoying because even to fake being nice is not that hard. I used to be a waitress and never talked crap about my customers or gave them attitude while they were right there, it was very unprofessional and I was disappointed with...
