We only went to this restaurant once and never came back for good reasons. On our first visit here the waitress introduced herself and got us drinks. Then, she took our order. I had her repeat it back to make sure she got it straight ( I do this at all restaurants). She returned 15 minutes later with my order close but not completely right, and my boyfriend's plate contained a completely different dish than what he ordered. He assumed she just mixed us up with another table and politely told her the order was wrong. She then told him, " Well believe me you'll like this one much better!" We were so stunned and confuesed that we didn't bother telling her my meal was entirely correct either. I've NEVER in my life seen a waitress mix up an order, and then try to force the paying customer to just accept food they never ordered. Rather than cause a dramatic scene by complaining to management, we just paid for the incorrect orders anyway and left never to return. I hope they train wait staff better than this...

Like every single Mexican restaurant (except Puerto in seneca) within an entire 80 mile radius of Salem SC (which is about 20 Mexican restaurants) they DO NOT HAVE REAL margaritas, and no one speaks English well. See Pic of what they call a mango margarita. Also, they don't even use any real fruit of any kind. Some places it's just a mix, ice and alcohol but they at least put one piece of mango in it... But my question is, why on earth would anyone own a Mexican restaurant and not have real margaritas. This place legit didn't even do any real mango or even ma go mix. It was a legit sour mix only. With ice and alcohol. Blended. It's YELLOW.... I will never go here again and while Puerto is the only place that makes them mostly real, the food there isn't great. Want to be rich, open a Mexican restaurant neqr salem SC (pickens or seneca as well) where people know basic English and the margaritas are real and you will put 100 places fully out of biz even If your food sucks. Tacos where gross too, old...

I'll give this place 4 stars because it was decent food and the service was good. My chips were probably cooked in older oil as they were dark and tasted like oil. They said the guac was made fresh in store but I mightve got a bad batch. I would definitely just ask for avacado if your looking for a more fresh element to add to your food. Combination numbers here are diffrent from other restaurants I've been too. I got a number one wich is the taco, enchilada, and rice and beans. The beef is flavored really well unlike other places I've been too. The portions however seem to be less than others. The combination in about a 1.50 less than other restaurants I've been too so I wasn't to upset about the portion sizes. The menu however is a bit confusing because everything says they cant do substitutions, but they did for me. Not sure what substitutions they won't do, I added cheese for a dollar instead of red sauce on enchilada. Id give it a try you may like it or feel lukewarm like me. Ether way the...

We've consistently had good meals at El Agave. It's not a big place but it's right on Main street in Pickens. During cooler weather it is nice to sit outside at one of their two tables. We both ordered from the El Agave Specials on their menu. The first picture is their homemade flan. Huge portion to be shared by two and no, we didn't do dessert first. The middle picture is their La Superior dish. That is a burrito and a chili pepper which is actually a poblano. Both stuffed with ground beef and topped with ranchero sauce and served with refried beans and rice. Very tasty. The last dish are their fried chimichangas served with sour cream, tomato and guacamole salad. The burritos were to be made with beef tips but these were made el pastor (pork) in error and were fantastic. They do start you with chips and salsa but have a good selection of appetizers. BTW the people working here are friendly and attentive.

This was the second time I've eaten at El Agave. I took my daughter and a granddaughter to dinner. They both agreed with me. This is a fantastic place to get Mexican food. Not only does the food taste wonderful, but it is beautifully plated. I especially wanted my girls to sample a desert. We each ordered a different item, and after the first bite, each said it was the best they had ever tasted. My granddaughter called her husband to tell him about El Agave. "They have the same thing we usually get at the other place and it's two dollars cheaper," I heard her say. The mixed drinks are well made (you can taste the main ingredient). You owe it to yourself to check El Agave out.
